Paste without formatting not working in Google Docs
-
I think it's a really bad idea to make "Ctrl+Shift+V" to do search with the clipboard. It's very easy to make mistake when pasting text, and sometimes browser takes the action instead of the web app.
-
@jae Not getting into whether it should be default or not, to fix this on your install, you should remove that keyboard combo in settings.
Go to
Settings
→Keyboard
→Window
→Paste and Go
and remove the default entry ofCtrl
+Shift
+V

@nomadic Thank you so much! You saved my life. As a user from Opera 6.06, I thought there should be an option for this. Just couldn't find it somehow. I'm a dumbass.

I tested now - ctrl+shift+v (paste without formatting) still not working in google spread sheets :(. Works in google documents but not in sheets.
Windows 10 Pro, Vivaldi 3.5.2115.87

@charlie1212 https://www.autohotkey.com/ helps with script:

@Gwen-Dragon still not working for me in 3.6.2165.32 (Official Build) (64-bit)
@kohy I appreciate that tip, but this is core Google Apps functionality...it's actually a menu item (Edit / Paste Special / Paste Values Only)...should not require a hack to work
-
@kohy You really made my day. It working fine now even in the incognito tab.
-
@charlie1212
It doesn't work for me and I agree with you. It's an important issue.
I was testing Vivaldi to be my standard browser, but I'm quitting the idea because of that. -
@charlie1212 said in Paste values in Google apps *still* not working:
Create a new Google Sheets file
Enter a number into a cell
Format that number in some way (bold, color, whatever)
Copy the cell
Now create a (second) new Google Sheets file
Regular paste. The cell from the first file comes through fine - formatting and all
Now attempt to paste values. It does not work. Nothing gets pasted. Neither Ctrl+Shift+V nor using the menu (Edit / Paste Special / Paste values only)
4.1.2369.11 Pasting unformatted with Ctrl+Shift+V works for me now.

@doctorg Hi
It's not working for me. Tested it just now.
When I copy data from an Excel spreadsheet and paste as values in a Google sheet, it simply doesn't work. It pastes the previous item from the transfer area, but not the current one. -
@felipe12345 Yes, copying formatted text from external app like LibreOffice Calc or MS Excel and paste into browser as raw text fails.
But this happens on Chromium, too. Not a Vivaldi issue, i think. I have not tested with Edge or Firefox or Chrome.Please tell me: copy from Excel to Google Sheets cell running browser works with which browser?
-
@doctorg It works fine in Chrome

@nomadic You're the best! I thought Vivaldi was just buggy because I found if I navigated back to the page I was on and then tried "Ctrl+Shift+V" the shortcut would work as expected. Why the heck would Vivaldi hijack such a common shortcut for some random functionality that's no more convenient than clicking on the search bar and pasting?
-
Ctrl + Shift + V still not working in Google Spreadsheets and Vivaldi. Will it ever be repaired?
-
I updated bug tracker VB-64825 "Cannot Ctrl+Shift+V to Paste as Plain Text in Google Sheets" for current 5.0 and 5.1 versions.
-
Ctrl + Shift + V is still fully functional in Google Docs. Thank you!
-
Ctrl+Shift+V is 'paste unformatted' in Google Docs (which I use all the time), doesnt work with the Vivaldi default keys as it conflicts with 'paste and go'. Yes I can change it in the settings, but you know how software goes, one day an update will reset it back again... also it doesnt sync between machines and its a pain to keep setting it up ... recommend Vivaldi change the default shortcut for this to something else.

@oo1 That is a known regression, no progress yet.
