Extension Causing Browser Crash
-
I've just installed a browser extension from the Chrome Webstore from a highly trusted Australian company. As soon as it installed, my browser crashed. Every time I open the browser, it tries to install the extension and when it does, it crashes. I have tried deleting the extension from within
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Vivaldi\User Data\Default\Extensions
but that does not help. I get a few seconds with the browser open and then the moment this extension appears, the browser crashes. How can I fix this?
I am on Windows 10 and I believe Vivaldi version 3.8.2259.42.
I have tried updating Vivaldi to 4.0 but I get an update error.

So I feel I should provide an update. I restarted my computer and was still facing the issue, however I was able to update now which did fix the problem of Vivaldi crashing.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with Vivaldi, the extension, or my computer. If it's Vivaldi, hopefully it can be looked in to so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

@thenorsepantheon , although Vivaldi is based on Chromium, it is very different from Chrome. That is, not all Chrome extensions are fully compatible, especially those that interfere with the UI or some native function can cause conflicts or not work as expected. It has nothing to do with the trusted autor of the extension.
Sometime can help to use a alternative extension with similar functions. -
