No sound in Twitch clips, when creating or watching one
-
@hakenbrowning works for me 4.1.2345.3 win 10 x64 pro (21h1), i tested https://www.twitch.tv/papaplatte
may be caused by one of your extensions or vivaldi settings > webpages > default permissions had deactivated sound, or vivaldi does not detect your sound output device correct.
check https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/troubleshoot/troubleshooting-issues/

@doctorg Tried everything noted on the page, nothing worked. Still no sound from Twitch clips on Vivaldi, even on Guest Profile.

OK, I think I discovered why it doesn't work.
It's because the Twitch clip technology encodes audio...to AAC (MPC-HC tells me it's "aac lc"). And it's broken on the snapshot. Streams works like intended (seems it's not AAC live or on live replays, but MP4A) but all clips seems to use it.
-
@hakenbrowning you did not gave us a clip url where your audio was broken.
-
@doctorg Because the bug was on every clip I tried to watch, like I said. Why give an example when ALL OF THEM has the bug...
You can try with the channel you linked. Lives and lives replays works. But if I try to play a clip, for example in "Popular clips", no sound. And it's specific to the Twitch clips, and I discovered the audio codec in the clips is AAC.

@hakenbrowning my watched streams all worked with audio on 4.1 snapshot.
next time check media player with url
vivaldi://media-internals
have a nice day.

Like I said, watched streams do work, because Twitch doesn't do any post-processing treatments, meaning audio is still MP4A, which has no problems.
Like I said already 2 or 3 times, the problem is with CLIPS. Not streams or watched streams or whatever streams, ONLY ON CLIPS done by users.

@hakenbrowning There's nothing to do until it gets fixed, it's known, too bad, that mp4 with AAC audio don't play anymore the audio part. I confirm on twitch only live and recorded full streams work, I watch them every days. Clips have muted audio on current snapshot.
It's a lucky thing that YT and Twitch streams can be served with other audio encoding, else I should already use another browser instead of Vivaldi. -
Same here Twitch Clips don't work. Livestreams and VODs are working
https://www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick/clip/ClumsyElegantOcelotHumbleLife-FaomvwFgQj-XBXdyInstagram Storys dosen't work,
https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/18005524210078428/and Imgur Videos are missing their sound also
https://imgur.com/gallery/oh0pQhMAll since Snapshot 2339.3.
Reverting back to 2328.3 and the Sound is back.

@ian-coog Yeah, I know the problem with AAC is known, just I found it weird on Twitch to have streams working but not clips, so I suspected another bug but it's always the good old Chromium bug ^^
This thread can be closed, it's now solved anyways, was just letting it open in case doctorg found working clips, but now I know thanks to you and chrissi1002 it's really the AAC which is at fault here.
