@stilgarwolf If you want to know why Consumer Reports did this test, Tom Nash did some digging and discovered that the two top executives of Consumer Reports used to work for the Ford Foundation. Ford and GM use inferior Cruise Control autonomous driving with a camera looking to see if the driver is paying attention.
By market close on 28th April the Tesla stock price had fallen to $694.40 due, in part, no doubt to this latest FUD. The crash had nothing to do with Autopilot; it was not engaged and could not have been engaged as the road has no lane lines.

Look Mum! No hands!
After crashing: Look mum! No teeth!
Another fatal crash most likely involving the misuse of autopilot. The media continues the narrative that Auto-pilot is at fault, and not the driver, even though the instructions clearly state that the driver must remain attentive and ready to take over at any time.
Full Self-driving cannot come soon enough.
World Record
Tesla Model S Plaid sets a new world record of 9.23 seconds for a Quarter Mile for a production car.

Tesla in Write-off
Lorry Load of Blocks converts Tesla into a write-off. The driver and his wife walked away with minor injuries.

Pike’s Peak 2021
Model S Plaid Qualifies 1st ahead of the race day on Sunday 27th. The siren has to be on to warn that the car is coming because there is no engine noise.
The Unplugged Performance customised Model S Plaid in action on this annual mountain race. Last year their team crashed, so the race was won by a production Tesla Model 3 Performance sponsored by Tesla fans without corporate finance.

@pesala Are you going to be buying dogecoin now?
-
This post is deleted! -
@pesala Well, isn’t investing in Tesla a speculation that other people will invest in Tesla, and thus raise the value of the stock? Sure, Tesla has done well long-term so far (but then again, so have multiple cryptocurrencies).
Also, hasn’t Bitcoin multiplied many times since it first started, even more than Tesla?
Plus, USDC solves all the problems you mentioned with cryptocurrency: it is good for the earth b/c it’s based on ethereum, you can earn some interest by staking, it is stable and not speculative.

@pesala Okay. I was trying to make a joke about Elon Musk, not get you to invest in something.

Yahoo Finance Fake News
Yet another misleading article by Yahoo Finance on Tesla Autopilot. The article does not even mention the incident from 2019 that resulted in the teenager's death. It talks about the Tesla Model S Plaid fire from a few days ago, which is yet to be investigated.
The actual death crash incident was reported by the New York Times published on July 5th, in another shameless attempt to discredit the safety of Autopilot.
It is all good for me. The FUD reduced the Tesla stock price by $30 so that I could afford to invest in one more share at a bargain price of $647, without having to sell it again soon to pay my bills. I missed the dip a few weeks ago, so I was waiting for another buying opportunity. There might be an even better one today, but nobody knows what will happen today or tomorrow. However, next year is very likely to be higher (not investment advice, do your own research, etc.)

Up nearly $10 to $656.95 in two days at market close on Friday 9th.
Full Self Driving Beta 9 was released late on Friday after being delayed by a few months for further tweaking.
First Impressions: Dirty Tesla
If all goes well, wider release is expected in about a month.
Tesla stock rose significantly to $685.51 on July 12th with the recent good news.

1/4 Mile World Record
Tesla Model S Plain 9.08 sec 1/4 Mile finishing at 154.1 mph.
Note that this is a stripped down version. Probably all excess seats and other parts were removed to reduce weight, so it is no longer a standard production Model S Plaid.

Q2 Earnings
As usual, Tesla Breaks All Records not only on the drag strip, but also in their financial performance. In spite of this, Wall Street remains negative, citing chip shortages, which all vehicle companies face.
Other companies had to shut down production, while Tesla worked around it by rewriting firmware and software, hence they continue to grow rapidly year on year.
ARK Invest remain extremely optimistic about fully autonomous robo-taxis. While others think it will never happen, Tasha Keeney of ARK Invest thinks it is only a couple of years away, and sees it as a multiple $ Trillion opportunity. Bitcoin is also recovering, and Tesla holds $1.5 Billion in Bitcoin.
AI Day, which will be news about the Artificial Intelligence behind the Full Self-driving software, is scheduled for August 19th.

NHTSA Investigation
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration board have launched an official investigation into Tesla crashes on Autopilot. If you look at the case history of fatal crashes involving Tesla cars you will find that most were caused by user error such as pressing the accelerator instead of the brake pedal. A total of eight deaths since 2013 have been confirmed as attributable to Autopilot.
I welcome the investigation as it might reveal the truth about the causes, and dispel the myths propagated by the mainstream media. As more Tesla vehicles are on the roads there will inevitably be more accidents, but Autopilot continues to improve through analysing the crash data whenever and wherever it fails.
The news hit the share price hard, which dropped $31 to $686.17 at market close on 16th August from $717.17 at market close yesterday. It surprises me that an announcement like this has such a dramatic effect on people’s confidence in the company, which continues to grow production, revenues, and and profits every quarter.

AI Day August 19th
AI Day was a technical presentation, intended only to recruit new staff for the artificial intelligence program. Rob Maurer of Tesla Daily breaks down the two-hour presentation into his 19-minute video. It talks about the way that the new Dojo super-computer is designed, and how they use it to process driving data provided by Tesla cars.
The announcement of a humanoid robot (named Optimus) surprised everyone. In my opinion, this is a blue-sky project primarily aimed at arousing the interest of the brightest programmers and robotics engineers. Even if it never becomes a commercially viable project, the skills learned to design and teach it will be very useful to Tesla for their factories and robo-taxis.
