After Import from Google missing passwords
-
I imported (or hopefully sync'd) Bookmarks and Passwords from Chrome.
My problem is the following: after unlocking the View Password request, only some of my passwords are actually visible. However, about half my 300 passwords are not. Why is that, and how can it be fixed? -
@yaffa How did you "sync" with Chrome? Import is one thing, sync is another entirely, and Vivaldi does not sync with chrome. It can, however, import chrome passwords.
-
@ayespy I set up Sync from the settings:
and when I did, it asked me which Chrome profile it should sync from.
Now when I want to log in certain pages, it only recognizes my username but not the password (blank). I then checked my saved Vivaldi passwords:As you can see, most of them are completely missing.

@gwen-dragon I sure can do that, but I also want to have the two (Chrome & Vivaldi) constantly sync'ing my passwords, i.e. they need to be a perfect match.

To sync passwords across browser you need to use an external password manager that integrates into the browser with an extension. Typical choices are the open source Password managers bitwarden (storing the passwords encrypted in the cloud) and keepassx (locally saved encrypted password files, more tricky to set up to work across devices).

@gwen-dragon What I mean to say: I sure can try and import the .csv file from Chrome into Vivaldi, but since it will be a static import, I doubt it will update on either browser whenever I edit one of its respective password list. Or will it?

@gwen-dragon & @WildEnte I guess my only workaround in this case is to update, i.e. complement each saved Vivaldi password which is missing, by typing it and then, when the browsers prompts me, to update it.
Thanks all for the input! -
