4.0.2312.24 crashes on ElCapitan 10.11.6

@cisebo6015 In any case, the ideal scenario is being able to update to v. 4 without trouble, so I reckon this is totally up to Vivaldi developers. I really hope they release a tested suitable update for Mac OSX 10.11.6 and of course notify us users specifically and properly. It would also help to know if they are not implementing new updates for 10.11.6 because someone already considers it too old. I would be very sorry to move from Vivaldi to whatever other browser.

@carlos66ob yes,I downloaded old version from vivaldi website and installed it in app folder, disabled updates and it works

Where I could found the latest 3.x version on the Vivaldi WEB Site?
-
@fredonmac
Now I had found the option Bug_Report on the Vivaldi WEB Site and send them my Mac crash log file. -
-
Parallel installed 'Vivaldi (3.8.2259.42)' works well with the same profile.
But version 4 has never really taken off, changing from a grey frame immediately to a crash.I'm not worried about security at the moment, Vivaldi is not my main browser. Vivaldi replaced the free Mac Chromium browser project, which was unfortunately discontinued.

todays update .27 still crashing, Vivaldi devs reading this forum?
-
@cisebo6015 It's far better to report a bug.

The new version 4.0.2312.24 crashes on ElCapitan 10.11.6!
Is 4.0.2312.24 not ElCapitan ready?Good question, as it turns out, you can only easily find that answer at Wikipedia. For reasons I cannot understand, you cannot go to Vivaldi main website, see the latest release ALONG with system requirements. This was what I tried to determine when I had this very same problem that is now so common four days on. Yes, 4.0 is supported, according to Wikipedia. Of course, we all now know that is not the issue: engineers and or testers made a mistake that will tarnish the trust and respect people have for Vivaldi. Perhaps they will learn from this, as I'm sure more than a few people have moved on. These days use of the Internet is a primary function of computers. And people are not idling by, especially if you use your browser for work, waiting and hoping.

@hlehyaric it is far better to read the thread before making such statements to already frustrated people. Then you can see that at least one person here as sent in a bug report. As yet, no one knows if any developer is reading this forum or have seen the bug. What would be better is communication from Vivaldi to its users. That would be much better.

@fredonmac Hi, can you please share with us how you have accomplished this?
-
@bnmnesta The thread makes it clear several users have the same very serious issue on macOS 10.11, so a bug report must be filled. Several reports can only get the bug a higher priority & show the extent of the issue.

@hlehyaric a rather strange way to draw attention to a prevalent problem. Why has Vivaldi not communicated to its users, four days on? Even a simple sorry would do.

I had send a bug report to Vivaldi.
Now I installed 4.0.2312.27 on two different Macs with ElCapitan, on one Vivaldi donβt run before.
But on both Vivaldi crashes again.I had send this both new crash reports to Vivaldi bugreports (answer to the mail I have got from Vivaldi).

There is only one Vivaldi user directory /Users/....../Library/Application Support/Vivaldi
In the Application directory I have two Vivaldi apps
'Vivaldi.app' - (now version 4.0.2312.27)
and the other I renamed
'Vivaldi (3.8.2259.42).app'On a Mac there is no problem to use multiple versions of programs.

@fredonmac Thanks so much

So, a week later, no response from Vivaldi. Those who have sent in bug reports; any response? Perhaps they're shy to respond in public.

Nothing at all...
