How do I remove the search bar on the right?

Hi guys, I've already configured the "address bar" search functions (g smth → search smth in google etc) and now the search bar to the right from the "address bar" feels way too excessive. How do I remove it? Right-click on the toolbar doesn't help anyhow; search in the settings menu (by keyword "search") doesn't help as well. Should I request a new feature or it is already possible to do this? Best regards, Yakov.

It's far from being excessive. I suggest to understand how it works and why the omnibar alone isn't a searchbox replacement, using it for a while.

Anyway vivaldi is meant to meet any personal preference and you can disable it using the checkmark in the top of the search preferences panel.

Well, it sounds a bit intriguing, but I can't see any advantage.. No extra dropdown stuff; to change search engine, I need click, sometimes scroll and then click again instead of just typing g or w to use google or wikipedia. Could you provide some details about where to look?

Well, although obviously, the mileage varies to me the one hand only/mouse only usage seem important as the keyboard only use where the search engine shortcut may be more practical.

The search history recently (re)introduced is also very helpful. If you start adding a lot of custom search engines may not be so practical to remember any fancy search shortcut, especially the ones used less frequently. In the SB you have a visual reminder of both sites and shortcuts.

That said the SB will hopefully improve further. Say, ATM it lacks the Paste and GO function (and/or the go button) that will further improve the one hand operation. But aside that we know that the "Real Opera"/Vivaldi coders are practically a never sleeping factory of ideas, so likely we will see further and unforseen improvements/functionalities in that area.

Last but not least, I believe that given the current (hideous) 16/9 aspect ratio, the vertical space is precious as gold while the horizontal is not.

At leas vivaldi has now the option to show the full url, but in chromium which shortens the urls and has a minimal set of buttons, a so big URL field is really a way to waste some space.

I can see why some people have no use for the search bar and the option to remove it is fair enough, but I find it useful. I have several dictionaries as custom search engines for definition, US and GB English and etymology, for me it's the most convenient way to access the one I want.

As for the space, well, extensions' buttons and may be on-address-bar-bookmarks (if introduced) will eat it, so I wouldn't say that the space is of no value.

P.S. Not sure if you noticed that, but the extension buttons can be already hidden (the feature was introduced some time ago)

For some extensions is almost mandatory to have them always visible but other can be hidden w/o big drawbacks.

@nicholasdaniel123 Now the tick box became 3 radio buttons (together named as Search Field Display). Preferences == settings. Search preferences == search section in preferences.
