Optimize the name and function of mouse gestures for switching between left or right tabs in Vivaldi
-
Vivaldi's mouse gesture feature is the best of all browsers
But it has a perplexing problem which has not been solved so far. That is how to actually switch between left and right tabs
This is my current mouse gesture configuration for switching tabs. I'm using by order, but it's not really a sequential switch. I don't understand the logic of it, because sometimes it switches tabs in a haphazard order

This is a demo video I recorded where I use the previous tab(by order) gesture to switch tabs. You can see in the video that I switch tabs to the left and vivladi jumps from the third tab directly to the first tab. I switch tabs to the left again and vivaldi jumps from the first tab to the second tab. This is not a sequence at all, but a disorder.By order should mean that I switch from the third tab to the left to the second tab, and then from the second tab to the left to the first tab. That's called order.
Then I found that the mouse gesture plugin for Firefox, Gesturefy, was very well named for the feature and functioned in the true order I wanted to switch
Focus right tab & left tab

@poto I agree that the name is confusing, but I believe it is consistent with the other locations in settings where tab switching is shown, like keyboard shortcuts.
The gestures you probably want are
Tab Cycler Forward
andTab Cycler Back

@nomadic This doesn't work. I found a functional logic design problem with Vivaldi's mouse gestures for switching tabs.
My need is very simple: to be able to actually visually switch tabs left and right on the tab bar. Switching tabs to the left means actually switching to the left tab. But now there is an obvious problem, no matter I set Previous&Next Tab (by Order or Recent), there will be a jump to switch tabs, for example, ABC three tabs, will jump from tab C to tab A
All I want is the ABC three tabs, to be able to actually switch from tab C to tab B via the Previou Tab gesture, and then run it again to switch from tab B to tab A
When there are very few tabs, it works fine. But if I have many tabs or tab groups, the logic of Previous&Next Tab becomes very strange and there are tab switching jumps

The standard mouse gesture for that is right click & wheel. Also play around with the cycle order in the settings?
