Does not fix it.
@AcerAspire said in Vivaldi won't open. --no-sandbox is the only way to open V.:
so no.
Try this? https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=918433
Does it happen with Chromium or Chrome based on 90 as well?
Maybe the MESA driver of Debian & Debian derivatives is too old and buggy...
-
@npro To add to this and the other thread on not running in Linux, I can confirm I'm also using an old system with 32-bit Debian.
I hardly use this old netbook, or Linux in general, so I won't be able to do much debugging compared to others on here.
-
@mossman Yup, I have the same issue. Had to do the disable sandbox thing, too. I'm running 32bit Exe GNU/Linux (a Devuan derivative). Put a bug report into Vivaldi about it yesterday.
-
Apart from having to do this --no-sandbox thing, I have to say that this 3.8 version is actually performing well for me, on my well age Lenovo T61.
Up until now, if I didn't shutdown Vivladi after using for a day, it would slow to a crawl. Then my HD light would go into overdrive and then I'd have to force a shutdown. But, I've been running Vivaldi now for a couple of days and performance has been good.
-
I have submitted a bug report myself (VB-79386). Hopefully a fix is on the horizon and i shall remain on 3.7 until such time.
-
Now I was forced to upgrade my previous installation of Mageia 7 to 8 one and detect that all my chromium based browser stop working . but fortunately I found this thread. Both --disable-seccomp-filter-sandbox and simply -- no-sandbox work for me fine, and i added first parameter to the launchers. But as I understand it is only temporary solution, not resolution of the problem that rooted in chromium itself.
Also I'm surprised that you discuss the version 3.8 but on the vivaldi download page for 32-bit both deb and rpm packeges have last version 3.7.2218.58-1

Version 3.8 was the one that broke in 32-bit Linux and caused these threads. 3.7 is the last official version which works out of the box on these systems...
.. unfortunately.
-
Is a solution in the pipeline as 32bit users cannot stay on 3.7 forever.
-
@priest72 No progress
-
@doctorg ok so 32bit linux is being given the chop..thank you DoctorG.
