Open magnet link in another application?
-
Hi, in other browsers I could associate .magnet links with an application that handles these and have the browser open them there directly. Is it possible to do this with Vivaldi as well? I can't find this anywhere in the settings menu.

@Onweerwolf Hi, Vivaldi leaves protocol handling to the OS. An application registers itself as a protocol handler and when clicking
magnet://
links they will open in the registered application.I believe Firefox (and its derivations) is the only major browser that allows users to define their own protocol handling.

@Onweerwolf When you click a magnet link Vivaldi show a image like this (of course your client of torrent instead of WA, is only an example):
Enable it and you will can open next magnet links.

@Pathduck O12 will do Torrents, but not magnet links. if that helps.

The point is that i can't enable it. It just says:
So, according to others in this thread i have to set this in the OS instead of the browser to work but I haven't been able to find out where I can do that in Win10.

Hi,
I don't really speak your language but it looks like your setting is for .torrent files, while my issue is with magnet uri links.
-
@Onweerwolf Do you have this association with torrent files in Windows 10?
-
No, I do not and I also don't want that. I don't even use uTorrent.
My issue is with magnet uri links not with .torrent files.
But nevermind, I found a setting in my application that I use for magnet links and that was enough to get this to work. I just never new this wasn't a browser-specific thing until i switched to Vivaldi.
