Style-mod for Telegram-Panel
-
Thanks to @vimana there is an extension for WhatsApp now. See his Thread and learn how to install and activate it.
At the moment you can't find a similar extension for Telegram that is more than putting the web version into the panel. There is one to get a dark version of it (what I would prefer).
As the web-version of Telegram isn't coded like the desktop-version it is a bit poorer in it's design. Especially many video-links have no thumbnail-image-preview.
And there are no Share-buttons next to the posts. You have to rightclick it.To get Telegram into the panel in a optimal way I found 2 approaches.

Just use the installed desktop-version (available for Windows, Mac and Linux) and give it the same size as your standard panel. When open it you have it as a new layer above Vivaldi-panel.
In Linux you can set it toalways on top
to have it visible while surfing in Vivaldi. I prefer to have a shortcut (only Linux) to reopen it when in background:wmctrl -a Telegram
.
The Telegram-button is - of course then - in the system taskbar and not in your panel.
Here is a screenshot:

You also can use the extension Stylus to modify the css-code of Telegram-web.
I'm using the styleTelegram Solarized Dark Grey
, one from many available styles.
In addition I modified this style by changing colors and font-sizes.
If you are fine with the lack of thumbnail-image-previews of video-links I would recommend this approach.
Advantage:
Real panel with the same behavior as other panels.
Here is a screenshot:
Optimal would be a real extension based on Telegram desktop and comparable to the mobile version of it.
I think that will be available in near future because more and more people are using Telegram instead of WhatsApp. -

Do you know https://evgeny-nadymov.github.io/telegram-react/?
It has video thumbnail preview and maybe some CSS would be applied.

@Zalex108 Oh that's really worth testing it.
There are theme-settings that allow to chose dark mode.I just have to adjust the background color because the original has to much brown component (instead of blue for my favorite bg).
First try to adjust that failed because I didn't find the right element yet withinspect

@Zalex108 I got trouble with this version. At least as web-panel. With or without modifications it produces a strange cursor- back- and forth-jumping while writing a new message.
In the result also some last-written characters are jumping to startpoint. To avoid it I would have to write very very slowly.I just found the authors github page and have written a commend about the issue.
Now I'll check it in Windows and other browsers that provide web-panels.
-
Just checked and works fine:
V Dev 3.7.2218.3 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (Build 7601.24565)
-
@Zalex108 Thank you! I tested it with Opera, that was OK too.
I deleted panel-related modifications (custom.js) but not all mod-js so far. Without that mods it is still happening, even with deactivating my style-mods (with stylus).I'll try deactivating all custom.js soon.

You can try this to test on a Clean.
Then you can do those Steps to find the problem. -
@Zalex108
Yes, indirectly I did that by taking the stable instead of the snapshot. It has basically the same configuration, but the custom.js stories were not all in there. And lo and behold, it doesn't have the bug. Strangely enough, there is also a difference - not yet comprehensible to me - regarding the background image.
With the same style change, it has a light greenish nature image in the snapshot, and the dark blue background I wanted in the stable.
I used the identical code. Even after clearing the cache it doesn't change.
And somehow it will probably have to do with the JS used. Even though I removed the suspects and now both browser variants have the same code, there seems to be something left in the snapshot.
Or?

If a Profile is from a Copy/Paste that would have some Setting in Preferences or other file that makes the difference.
-
@Zalex108 The profile isn't via copy/paste. Only the custom.css
-
I have some similar problem in one profile where VHooks stops the loading of the browser but the rest runs fine.--
You've missed that your previous post is in German.
