Change the Default Shortcuts for Tile functions
-
On Mac, the default keyboard shortcuts for the various "Tile" functions go from ⌘F6 to ⌘F9. However, if you're a developer and you tend to use Developer Tools, ⌘F8 conflicts with "Deactivate Breakpoints." I didn't know this was a problem until I went to "deactivate breakpoints" and all of a sudden the browser went haywire.
Luckily, I have kept the Status Bar around and was familiar enough with what Tiling is, so I was able to rectify the situation quickly without having to dive into the shortcuts to revert the tiling...
That aside, I think it's very unwise for an app to have default shortcuts that conflict within itself. Now, I realize the shortcut I'm referring to is coming from Chromium, but I don't think that's an excuse. Dev Tools > Settings > Shortcuts is pretty clear about what its got setup.
Thanks!

@battlewithin Changing defaults is problematic. It will upset a lot of users. I don't disagree with the point that you make, but since it is easy to set your own shortcuts, do what I did and make them easy to remember.

@Pesala that’s a whole other point. The defaults aren’t easy to remember. And of course I know how to change them, but they shouldn’t conflict internally. Period. It’s bad practice, bad programming, and a bad UX.

@battlewithin If you think it is a bug, report it as such.

@Pesala.. that’s funny. I was looking for bug reporting, but couldn’t find it. Thanks for the link.
