Try and run it verbose to see why it hangs. -

Trying to figure out how do they work
-
Can't find how to launch the options.
I've searched on the Net but haven't found any example and the tests didn't work. After more than 6h the command still was "running".
The VM state has been saved till tomorrow.Found a way pressing Shift at Boot and launching a recover but would be nice to find out what has been happening.
Thanks anyway for fastest help.
-
@Zalex108 Canโt tell you, not on a Debian distro right now. Maybe itโs an issue with the VM. Just try to run the distro from a spare hd or an usb stick and see how that works. Should you like it install it, if not move on.
-
I did before, then went to the VM to keep settings.
The Disk is awaiting to be prepared, but for now I'm stick on the VM.Later I'll check whether the Save State kept all or broke something on the process.
Thanks

Here's a suggestion, ditch prehistoric Debian-based with the inferior apt+dkpg combo lasting forever to do something, go Arch based
. pacman just rulz 'em all -for example you can install local packages, a thing you can't do with apt (as far as I remember)-
-
:smiling_face_with_open_mouth_smiling_eyes: Thanks
I've read is very good too, but I'm also read Mint is quite easy for newbies - like me - and Arch is more complex.
For now I've started with it and some other Distros - based to, I don't really know, Chakra, Elementary, Puppy, Q4OS... - just installing V and checking resources to decide.
Also on the quest to find out equivalent Apps I use on Windows.I need a light one for a Dual 1.6GHz + 2Gb and easy enough to start with.
Read about MX but it's still pending to download and test.Thank you

@Zalex108 Hah
always nice seeing open-minded people willing to experiment, happy hunting
.
I guess you know that If you like to ask anything about any distro of the ~700 around you know who to turn to, the master of VMs residing in these forums:

I've read some of the Linux related post here on the Forums, but... are you talking about you?
I'm going to start another VM since can't find a solution right now.

Previously mentioned MX Linux believing it's Arch based, but now realized it's Debian too.I've downloaded Arch 32 since Manjaro ditched x86.
I'm going to create it now, let's see how it works:smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat:

no, pay attention to the color of the chair

why x86, Dual 1.6GHz is a Dual Core, no? So x64 should be fine, your DE should be a light one after that.

Ups,
I have 2 options Lilo/Gwen and Steffy (GG)?The CPU it's x64 but it has just 2Gb, maybe it's better managed on Linux than Win, not sure whether the better performance would at the same time become a problem for Ram and consumption.
I've look at XFCE, despite the right side panel icons size, the rest seems fast and nice.

Hi,
Finally got fixed.Somehow the VBox version was incompatible.
Upgraded to V6 installed the Guest Additions and the install was smooth and rebuilded the 5.4.65 Kernel just fine.
Previously used V5.6 on a PortableHK.Will try to find out about the /Help since just found screenshots with the commands instead of how to apply them and didn't understood how to do it.
Took the time to Prepare an old HDD, Clone the Win installation and install Mint, so now it's easier to test.
@npro
Tried to install Arch but gave an error asking for User/Pass if I recall, so will be on standby for now. Thanks both!

Hah, I thought I've seen you giving some Linux-related hints with commands and such in the Vivaldi for Linux section so I assumed you had some experience with GNU/Linux already, seems I was wrong, so ignore my lighthearted suggestion
. Not that you couldn't try Arch-based distros, there are a couple of them you can try out, but mind I didn't say Arch, but Arch-based
There is no "user-friendly" installer for vanilla Arch by default, you have to install everything yourself via cli, that's why you see user & password

I've been confused then.
I will need to wait and find out all the needed info before.Despite that, even for Mint I need to do that too for some Apps or to set them up.
There just gave a copy/paste or a hint for a safe test.
Just know the very basic commands, I have to search for a List with the equivalences. For now, find out the right way to disable to write SU Pass every time is the main target!

Hi,
Related to an Arch based (Garuda) just found a video about Arch and it's installation.
:smiling_face_with_open_mouth_smiling_eyes:
The video it's in Spanish but links to English speaking language channels as help sources as well as the Arch website.
Seems to have all the needs for first installs so it is very good.Saved to start with.
Thank you
-
@Zalex108 Ha, Garuda. That started as a Manjaro fork then switched its... "engine" to Arch but kept the MJ settings, kernel tools etc and added some things on top. Very slick looking but more of the strong "subjective" side, at least those dark-blue-purple themed KDE flavours and some underlying tech, like btrfs. Regarding Arch, you sure you go that route? You have to set up literally everything from the ground up and know a thing or two about the Linux architecture and tools beforehand, I wouldn't recommend it. But if you are more interested in learning Linux rather than just using it it's worth it, there's nothing like their wiki.

Oh,
Now I understand some readed comments regarding engines.
Thanks.Garuda requirements would be too much here on an i5 2Gen and 6Gb DDR3, but will see.
Still pending to test live since run from Ram is too much.

With good documentation, should be easy.
I even don't know too much about Linux in general, but to know how different it is.There's no hurry.
Yes,
Saw the Install guide, the wiki not yet. Thanks
