Extensions are not working when set to enable on click.
-
I have just installed Vivaldi for the first time today to try it out. There are some features I really like but when I decided to set it up and install ads blocking extensions I encountered my first issues.
I noticed that when I enable the extensions to Site Access: on click they do not work when I enter any website.
Clicking the extension button does NOT do anything. It does work in options or any other vivaldi:// for example vivaldi://welcome/ or any other local html files but doesn't when using the browser to browse the web.
No issues encountered when access is set to On All Sites.

@NotUsed Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
Unfortunately, this is one of the limitations of the Vivaldi UI. It does not support all the features of Chromium which controls the extensions page and its options.
There probably already is a bug report for this. Maybe someone can confirm.

How come it works as intended when browsing html files stored locally and it only bugs out when website is hosted on the internet?

Gwen-Dragon, thank you for confirming.

I don't know if it's the same issue but I noticed something weird with two extensions, namely: Video Download Helper and Instagram Downloader.
Video Download Helper doesn't seem to work when you choose the "On specific sites" option. And if you install Instagram Downloader you will all of a sudden not see any options to choose from, you will only see the "Automatically allow access on the following sites" option. Can you guys verify?

Doesn't work at me as well. I hope it will be fixed in the next version

Similar issue with version 4.0.2312.38 on macOS 11.4.
Selecting 'enable on click' in extension option has no effect. Extensions are enabled at all sites anyway.
This is a crucial security feature. Some extensions are essential but not necessarily trustworthy. Would be useful to enable them only on demand. Hope this can be implemented soon.
Thank you!

It is still a bug in version 5.0.2497.24.

It is still not fixed in 5.2.2623.48
Hopefully it can be fixed soon..
