Solved I cannot enter a website, i get redirect to google search
-
Hello, i cannot enter to
POSEIDONHD.ORG
, get redirect tohttps://www.google.com/search?q=site:poseidonhd.org
.
I disabled every google service, even so i cannot enter.
Sorry for my english.
Thanks. -
@j4n497 The exact same thing happens in Chrome, Opera & Firefox if for instance you open Developer Tools or Sidebar Panels so the viewport is resized.
It's a site problem. A workaround may be to close panels in Vivaldi before opening the site. If you are a regular user of the site, contact their support, tell them their site is broken.
-
@j4n497 If you want to EVERY TIME be directed to the URL rather than search, go into settings and disable search from address bar.
-
Search is disabled from the address bar but i cannot access to that web, get redirected every time. Please can you try to acces to that web.
Thanks.En español: "cada vez que intento ingresar a
poseidonhd.org
me redirige a google search. El sitio está funcionando bien ya que puedo ingresar con Opera. He apagado todos los servicios de google en vivaldi pero sigue fallando al intentar ingresar.
Gracias. -

@Dancer18 said in I cannot enter a website, i get redirect to google search:
@Ayespy But is there a need do disable search from adress bar?
The link @j4n497 provided (and has trouble with) is working fine here - without any redirecting.
¿What is your version of Vivaldi? I tried in 2 diferent PCs and get the same problem in
poseidonhd.org
I use: Vivaldi 3.5.2115.87 (Stable channel) (64 bits)
Thanks -
@j4n497
Sorry, I normally work on Linux, and I checked it only there, and it is fine there. Now - in Windows - I can confirm it. Here is a redirection to google-search too.
Newest Vivaldi 3.6 stable in Windows 10 64bit. No external malware protection.
-
Thank you. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can figure it out
-
@j4n497
I wrote a thread in a Windows-forum. Maybe they have a solution. -
@Dancer18 Thanks again

Hi, no problem to enter the page with copy/paste the URL.You can check in a private window or guest profile.
https://help.vivaldi.com/article/guest-view/
If it work there it is may an extension or malware.
Try to delete cache and cookies.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin I tried it with private window and got the same redirect.
It is only in Windows, not in Linux.

Interesting. That is literally the only website I've found that doesn't get an automatic jump to the website. Literally EVERY other .org, .com, .net, .br, .us, or anything I enter goes automatically to the site.
I suppose its possible the site has never been properly disseminated across the web.

@Ayespy said in I cannot enter a website, i get redirect to google search:
disseminated
But why then it opens in Linux Mint?
-
@Dancer18 Can't guess. But why would that site have a problem in Windows and no other? Perhaps a different redirection protocol for the different platforms.
-
I don't get redirected anywhere typing
poseidonhd.org
in the address bar, and I'm on Windows 7. It goes directly tohttps://www.poseidonhd.org
Different dns? -

It's a weird one indeed. I get redirected to Google site search, but not immediately. In fact it can be triggered by opening DevTools OR by opening the panels. I suspect this triggers some some bad script and a reformat of the page because of the changed viewport, which in turn triggers the redirect to Google.
This also happens in Firefox, Opera and Chromium by the way.
The site uses some very shady-looking obfuscated scripts, probably triggering those explicit "chat" requests, or a crypto miner. Right-clicking seems to be blocked by script as well. Those guys really don't want their code to be inspected.
The site is definitely not a legal streaming site... I would stay well clear TBH...
-
@Pathduck So, to sum it up: It seems this is not a problem with Vivaldi, but with the website itself. And it seems the website is shady.

That could be the case. However, people in the german windows forum said, malware-checking was negative.

@Gwen-Dragon Yes, I disabled DNS help and other google services, extensions, I tried other DNS, I cleaned up browsing data etc. Pathduck said: "I suspect this triggers some bad script and a reformat of the page because of the changed viewport, which in turn triggers the redirect to Google".
It doesn't matter, Opera works fine on that website, I just wanted to know why it failed with Vivaldi.
Thanks
