Printing to .pdf hangs - usually forever
-
Upon right-clicking on a web page of interest and choosing Print, then choose "Print to PDF" Vilvaldi almost always takes an inordinate amount of time for the processed image to show up and the "PRINT" option to activate. I've tried 3 other major browsers: Chrome, Edge, and

@ecnels Are you printing to a PDF Printer Driver or setting the Destination to Save as PDF?
There is no delay at all here.

Which one(s)? And which Vivaldi version? Stable, snapshot? Version?
-
@Pesala I'm Printing, then selecting "Print to PDF" for the Printer. If I choose safe, there's no option that I see for a save as PDF - only html.

@Hadden89 Version INFO:

@ecnels Perhaps it was lost in translation. This is what I see. You will see a different list of installed printers, but Save as PDF will be there too.
-
Here's what I see: When I choose "Print to .PDF" it appears that the web page(s) is being processed to PDF, and on very small 1-2 page PDFs it works, but after 5-6 pages it's a dice-roll. Usually it just sits there forever and I can' cancel it - have to use Task Manager to stop Vilvaldi. to get out of it
-
Here's a clip of what the "hang" looks like. This is to process a 9-page HTML document to PDF. In this case, it let me use the CANCEL button, but I waited 30 seconds in this case and it sat just like the image shows the entire time.

@ecnels It could be anything really, an extension, your printer driver might interfere or maybe there's a memory issue.
My first suspect would be that "CutePDF Writer" there so try disabling/uninstalling that first.
First advice is to go through the troubleshooting steps:
https://help.vivaldi.com/article/troubleshooting-issues/
Most important is to try in a clean profile. You could also try disabling the EPSON printer in device manager. Or uninstall the device.
The point is to exclude as many things as possible from interfering. Here's a 80 pager:
https://vivaldi.com/blog/address-bar-and-tab-fixes-better-drm-support-plus-the-start-of-the-mail-calendar-and-rss-technical-previews-vivaldi-browser-snapshot-2115-4/
It takes maybe 10-15 seconds for the preview to appear for me for me, Win10 x64, five year old machine. -
Thanks, I'll give your excellent advice a whirl!
-
@ecnels No worries - I just realise I was looking at Pesala's image instead of yours...
So ignore that CutePDF thing. And your printer is clearly a Brother and not Epson. But other than that the same applies I guess. "Microsoft Print to PDF" I'm not sure where that comes from, but maybe it interferes. Apparently it's a "virtual" device and can be disabled/uninstalled like other devices.

It's a win10 default virtual printer. I don't think interferes.
-
@Pathduck I get a delay of about 20 seconds on my PC.
