Bookmark folders imported from Opera 12 are not alphabetized – and I have >400.

As I recall from my early tests (which is to say, back in v. 7 or 8 ), some of the Export options would sort according to displayed order. I'm sure that Export select did, so you could always Select all (Ctrl-A for keyboarders) and then Export selected (from the context menu or the File button in Bookmarks manager). Not that I tested it in later versions, but no reason it should have changed.
-
Yet, I exported to HTML from 12.17 just yesterday to test, and the order bore no resemblance to the displayed order.
-
Did you Export selected (from the context menu or file button) or did you simply Export?
-
Just exported.
-
Export selected needs to parse the selection, so it should be working from the sorted list.

Those bookmarks seem to be ordered in the file roughly as they were first introduced to the folder. The rationale for how the top folders are themselves sequenced within the bookmarks.adr file, I've never been able to fully deduce.
The result is that the bookmarks.adr file itself is merely organized along a folder/included-bookmarks line that is essentially otherwise unordered.
I like that you say you haven't worked it out when in fact you have :cheer: The order in bookmarks.adr is the order it appears in when sorting in Opera is set to My Order, nothing more, nothing less, that is also the order they are added in when running Vivaldi's bookmark import.
That it appears to be alphabetical or chronological is entirely down to how the user initially added the bookmarks and then subsequently moved the folders around.
@sgunhouse & Ayespy: Opera 12 exports in the order the entries appear in bookmarks.adr, the Save Selected As options make no difference whatsoever. If you want them sorted then use the workaround that Blackbird described above.

Hmmm. I just tried that, and if I wrote out an HTML file from Firefox, then Vivaldi imported only part of the bookmarks and in non-alphabetical order, and if I asked Vivaldi to import from Firefox (after I shut Firefox down), Vivaldi crashed repeatedly.
