Ctrl-W fails when closing multiple tabs
-
This is a simple UX detail.
Sometimes I open many tabs at once, and later I wanna close all of them also at once. I keep watch on the tabs bar and keep hitting Ctrl-W to go closing them one by one.
But, after closing a couple tabs, it stops working. I keep hitting the shortcut and the actual tab doesn't close, I need to move mouse cursor to its X button to close it. IDK if it's a feature to avoid misclosing tabs, or a bug.
Is it possible to disable it? If I close a tab by mistake, I can just go to Window > Closed tabs or to History and open it back. So I don't have the need to block Ctrl-W action when it's used multiple times.

@HikariWS Set a shortcut for Close Other Tabs. I use:
- Ctrl+W = Close Tab
- Ctrl+Shift+W = Close Other Tabs
For what it is worth, I see no problem with closing multiple tabs (27 of them) with Ctrl+W, but Holding Ctrl+W down only closes one tab. I have to hit Ctrl+W twenty-seven times to close them all.

Tnx. Sorry I think I wasn't clear.
I don't wanna close all tabs, with Ctrl+Shift+W. I'm also not holding Ctrl+W. I am hitting it multiple times, once per tab.
After closing 2 tabs it just stops working, I keep hitting W while holding Ctrl and active tab doesn't close anymore. When I click its X buttom, Ctrl+W works again for 1 or 2 times, and stops again.

Just tried this with 7 tabs (all startpage, but still.. )
Hold down Ctrl and hit W 6 times; no problem in latest (Stable or Snapshot) !?Time to check extensions/profiles etc?

I sometimes have the opposite problem. I'll have several tabs open, hit a single Ctrl+W, and they all close. I have the confirmation set, so Vivaldi doesn't close, I can re-open tabs. But once that starts happening, any Ctrl+W closes all tabs. Restart Vivaldi and Ctrl+W works properly for hours or maybe days. No idea what the trigger could be, it has happened for months across several updates.
Guess it is not shift getting stuck on somehow - Ctrl+Shift+W = Close Other Tabs - mine never leave any tabs open when the problem is happening.
So Ctrl+W is definitely a bit unpredictable... But I've never seen it not close at least one tab.

@LorenAmelang Ctrl+W will close all selected tabs.

@Pesala You mean "selected" like this?
New Tab Stack from Selection. This option allows you to select which tabs you’d like to include in a new stack. Simply select the tabs by holding down Shift / Ctrl / ⌘
Just tried that, the selected tabs change color and get a bright dashed outline. If I don't stack them, just come back to this tab, they apparently unselect - and still close independently. I'd never seen that selection outline before, certainly not when the multiple close problem is happening.
My problem happens with totally normal, independent tabs, just opened, not selected like that, exactly the process that normally leaves them independent. Maybe Vivaldi somehow flags everything as selected, but doesn't do the outlines?
