Two Simple Feature Requests
-
I have two simple feature requests: * "Open new tab next to current/active tab" - an option that allows for new tabs created by either clicking on a link with target="_blank" -OR- right-clicking a link and selecting "Open link in new tab", to be opened right beside the current/active tab you are in - instead of at the far-right end of the tab bar. This doesn't have to affect the "New tab" button in the tab bar, just new tabs created by clicking links or using the context menu. * URL completion - URL completion should only happen AFTER typing a trailing slash after a domain name - I don't know how many times I start typing a domain name, only to have to delete 75% of a URL because it was the last page I happened to visit. Example: http://www.domain.com - URL completion should NOT kick in; I shouldn't have to delete excess unneeded URL cruft. Awesome. http://www.domain.com/ - Ok, NOW URL completion should kick in and give me: http://www.domain.com/2015/excessively/long/url/to/a/page.html

You're right, but I think it should be handled different. For Example: if I have "http://vivaldi.net" in my favourites and start typing "viva…" it should autocomplete to just that url, not somethin from my history like "https://vivaldi.net/de/forum/vivaldi-browser/4150-two-simple-feature-requests/reply/31154?quote=1"
So, favourites first, history after that. -
Regarding tab order, I totally agree. In the mean time, someone else has pointed to a Chrome extension work around:
https://vivaldi.net/en-US/forum/vivaldi-browser/3535-suggestions-for-the-tabs#27571Regarding URL completion - I totally agree too! I have not discovered a work around for that yet. I haven't really looked, though.

That shouldn't have to come in an extension. It should be default.
-
Exactly. URL completion should happen on the different particles of a URL:
EG:
http://viv - http://vivaldi.net
But it should only complete for that particular portion of a URL - and AFTER the domain, it should start completing WHOLE URLs:
EG:
http://viv - http://vivaldi.net
http://vivaldi.net - NO completion for the REST of the URL
http://vivaldi.net/ - NOW it completes a URL like: http://vivaldi.net/2015/url/to/a/particular/page.html
-
Once again, that should be default - NOT an extension. Do I have to install 50 extension for simple basic functionality? That's ridiculous.

Hi, this is ALPHA software, not feature complete, buggy, not for serious daily work.
Some user need such a feature, me for example don´t need it at all.
Workaround: Use last page URL > click Home buttonCheers, mib

Yes. Please be patient.
Open new tab next to active will surely come sooner or later.
URL autocomplete will also probably improve. It is hard to please everyone with such features. I hardly ever type a URL so it doesn't matter to me at all. I am much more likely to type a Google search, or search Wikipedia or YouTube. I also use nicknames in the URL field occasionally.
