Crash fixes – Vivaldi Android Browser snapshot 2020.3

I'm thinking of doing a big write up of all of my feedback for your mobile browser. Is there somewhere I can dump it all and then perhaps later branch off into individual posts? If I dumped it here, would it be read?
-
@poopooracoocoo: Tried the forum?
-
@poopooracoocoo You're aware you have access to a blog on Vivaldi net right?
https://help.vivaldi.com/article/create-a-new-blog/
Then you can write it all up, and link it here for feedback.
Creating massive multi-issue posts would tend to get frowned upon and mostly ignored anyway... -

Yikes. I didn't want to go and make a million feature requests as that would take way too much time which is the problem with the forum
I had no idea about blogs! It requires you to verify your phone number though, which is a privacy issue. I tried to set one up but even after verifying my phone number, it still said I needed to do it. I have no idea what went wrong
Edit: tried it in a private window and it worked! https://poopooracoocoo.vivaldi.net/2020/08/26/barfing-my-feedback-on-vivaldi-for-android/

@olli just so you know i ended up making a blog post
-
@goddamn: It's a known bug. I hope it'll get fixed soon too.

Really?!? I've no idea why that would be a condition on these pages - certainly nothing I've ever experienced (I would scream blue murder if they tried that! My phone number, real name and physical address are the things I never give out online, or allow any apps to know(*))...
(*) I have been most annoyed that my latest phone uses default Google phone apps... I spent literally years NOT giving them contact details of myself and friends and now I have no choice but "trust" it's not being uploaded when I set it not to. Wouldn't surprise me if it uploaded it during installation and before I set it not to. Similarly, I discovered that Skype had also gained access to my contacts when I wasn't expecting it. A little piece of me died that day.

Phew! Makes me wonder if that was really Vivaldi though and not some phishing type thing.

@mossman Yeah Google often asks for your phone number for "security" purposes and they make it look like someone else tried to log in to your account. The only other option is to have a phone or emulator. Now I'm second guessing giving Vivaldi my phone number.
btw wouldn't Skype have asked you for permission to your Contacts? Sounds like one of those dark patterns like LinkedIn got sued for.
-
@Cqoicebordel ok, thank you for the response.

Hi! I used "popuptest.com" on my Android device to test Vivaldi built-in popup blocker and it perform not good (Trackers & Ads Block Enabled). Vivaldi doesn't block any popup, even Chrome & other browsers can block popup pretty well. I hope the team can improve this. Thank you so much! (Sorry for bad grammar, English is not my language)

It might be hard to find but there's always a way to skip (options like "not for now" etc.) - you really don't have to give it as it's illegal for them to block you if you don't.

It probably did but I missed it since I was setting up a couple of dozen apps that day...

Unfortunately that's not right. The way they work around it is by requiring you to have an Android device or emulator. They don't give you a way to skip.

My wife likes to keep a record of all her mail in Thunderbird, so on my monthly backup run I often have to log in to her GMail accounts and say "yes let Thunderbird read this [expletive] account again!". I can always skip any demand to "improve security". I really have never seen anything about Android or emulator, so I have no idea what you mean.
Same thing with her Yahoo! account, which has become extremely insistent on wanting more authentication details... just close the pop-up or find the little option somewhere to skip it. I said the word "illegal" earlier, and while I'm not 100% sure, I'm pretty certain that there's no way they can take your existing account access away from you without breaking some law - at least here in Europe.
