Why video fullscreen is windowed?
-
Shining new Snapshot (1.0.161.2) , shining old bug… yes, still here.
-
@Hernan_ar_c you don't have to bump this topic for every new version. Obviously the bug exists, and unless there's any update or new information, bumping the topic won't help anyone.
-
sorry … but you're telling me I can not keep posting , about a bug that does not allow me to enjoy vivaldi ? then I can not tell developers that bug is repeated in each snapshot so far?
I thought this place was to help remove the bugs that appear during the development of vivaldi for reliable browser and where the community helps developers and where developers listen to the community.whatever, in the snapshot 1.0.162.2 bug is still there...
-
I never said that you can't post about anything. On the contrary, you're more than welcome to post about the problems you have.
What I'm saying is you did post about this problem, and bumping this theme with each new Vivaldi version isn't doing anyone any benefit - it doesn't help this issue get fixed. "This bug is still not fixed" doesn't actually provide any useful information to anyone, and is generally considered an impolite behaviour. The devs were already informed, so there's no need to nudge them each time there's a new version. As soon as it's fixed, it will be mentioned in the changelog. Of course, you're more than welcome to share any new info you might find related.
Also, if you haven't already, you can report this bug here.

Hi,
I use also use Linux Mint 17.1 with KDE and it works without problems!
-
The bug is present in gnome, i dont know if anyone using kde has this problem….
-
I have the same problem with KDE Plasma 5.3 but only with Flash videos.
If I right click on the Taskbar and select Fullscreen for that video window, everything works. -
I have the same problem.
I'm using Linux Mint 17 with Cinnamon.
-
I still having this problem with videos, not solved yet…
-
I also have this issue on my Linux x64 with KDE4 (KWIN) with disabled compositions.
I use Vivaldi 1.0.228.3 (Build) dev (64-bit).It look like this:

I am still seeing this issue with the latest snapshot 1.0.303.32.
running on LInux Mint 17.2 cinnamon gtk3
full screen video always appears in a maximised window with visible chrome. -
I reported this bug a while but apparently is not important for now. In my case I'm using Gnome 3.16 in fedora Fedora 22 x64 with plans to upgrade to 23 when available.
Until this is resolved, unfortunately Vivaldi can not be my main browser, it's sad because I really like it -
Confirmed, having the same troubles with Cinnamon on Arch Linux.
-
I have this issue too. Using Cinnamon on Antergos with newest snapshot.
Edit: It seems HTML5 videos work fine but videos using flash player is windowed when clicking fullscreen.
-
See this thread: https://vivaldi.net/forum/vivaldi-browser-for-linux/4498-not-able-to-view-video-player-in-full-screen#33094
I'm running Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon edition, and can solve this per-video with a custom shortcut to force the application to run in fullscreen. For those of us running Cinnamon, see the short guide and screenshot below:
- Open System Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts.
- In the categorical menu on the left, click on "Windows." Then, on the right, find "Toggle fullscreen state." Mine is set to ctrl + F11, but it can be whatever you want.

I have the some problems with some players and videos. I think it's a bug, and I've reported it already.
-
This error is still present in the last snapshot … Nobody cares about this?.
So we have to assume that the stable version will also have this bug? -
It is still occurring in Ubuntu-Gnome 15.10 (with Vivaldi snapshot 1.0.390.3)
As you can see in the picture, the bad it's not only to see the window bar and OS top bar, but also the video controls below are out of the screen so you can't move forward or backward or choosing HD/CC or moving volume.
Please fix it, I use Vivaldi for everything except for watching videos. Other browser don't have that problem but I love Vivaldi and I'd wish I could see videos as well.
Thanks, regards
