Website Won't Load Properly
-
Hi,
All of a sudden one of my saved bookmark's that I normally use everyday no longer will open at all. This is the website I'm referring to: https://www.clarionledger.com , at least with other browser's that I still have installed it still opens correctly with them, for your reference..I'm currently running the following version: 3.2.1957.9 (Official Build) (64-bit)

@Davy49 Similar to my problem https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/48470/failed-to-access-sites-after-recent-updates
I noticed that sometimes when I try to leave these problem sites, Vivaldi crashes and when I reopen it the problem website is showing.
-
Hmm, weird.
The page loads fine for me in the latest Vivaldi Stable and internal Vivaldi builds (clean installs, so no extensions or settings changed). Same goes for the page in the other thread linked by @lmederos.
I'm getting redirected to eu.clarionledger.com and eu.usatoday.com, though, so maybe the issue with it not loading only happens on the US versions of the sites?
-
-
@Komposten , same, redirect to eu...... and opens flawless, With my VPN (ProtonVPN free) and server in the USA the page don't open.
-
Maybe the reason are the privacy settings of Vivaldi, due the privacy policy of this page

Where are you seeing this?
-
@treego , in the privacy policy of this page.
https://eu.clarionledger.com/privacy/ -
@Catweazle ok, thank you ... perhaps, this is the reason that USAtoday.com and all its associated websites won't load, also, in the USA?
-
@treego , if the privacy policy already borders on what is allowed in the European version, I imagine that that of the United States is even worse and that is why it redirects it for us, since if not, it could not publish in the EC.
Worst part

For me at least it is a possible reason, because Vivaldi blocks it, as it does with abusive pages.
-
Bad privacy policy or not, I doubt Vivaldi would block a site for that cause.
Something else is going on, but unless someone else from US is able to test this, it's hard to know. Maybe someone with a VPN can test from a US IP.
When you guys say "won't open" you need to be clearer.
- Do you get a blank page, an error page, anything else?
- What do you see in the Network log in Devtools?
- Does it work in other browsers?`
- Have you tried in a Guest profile or a clean profile?

I get a big blank space.
It works fine in other browsers such as Chrome, Opera, and Brave.
As said above, a bug report for usatoday.com has already been filed. It was confirmed as a bug by @Ayespy ...
-
@treego And it's reported fixed in a internal version...
-
@Pathduck , this what i have done this morning, connect to my VPN with a US server. With this the page don't load. Without VPN redirect to the EC page. This still shows a somewhat odd page setup that may be the cause.

That's great to hear! Thank you, @Ayespy !

I have discovered a workaround for these websites that are not loading properly (until Vivaldi releases their fix).
Open a tab for your news site that appears as blank space ... open/go to another tab and then right-click on that tab and select "Hibernate background tabs." Then go back to your tab for the news site that was "blank." Voila! It loads the news site now! Wow!
-
@treego ,
Thanks SO much for your workaround, at least now I can enjoy reading the paper online again, the big question now is what have the developer's of the browser done to create this issue ? Please Stay Safe !!
David -
Hi,
This morning I installed the latest snapshot in hopes that it might have fixed the webpage loading issue that I was having, no such luck..still won't load properly.
David -
@Davy49 Yeah. I checked too, but I guess there's a reason it wasn't in the changelog.
-
@Ayespy ,
Thanks so very much for checking on this for me, I feel confident that the developer's will (hopefully) find out is causing the issue and issue a 'fix' for it.
