Google Docs Offline extension incompatible?
-
I have had almost all tabs with Google services turning into an image of a dead bird and creating crash files.
Seems the cause is the Google Docs Offline extension Version 1.11.0.
If I enable this extension, almost all Google tabs will turn to dead birds within a few mins. If I disable the extension, the Google tabs stay working indefinitely.

Same happens to me, I'm using Vivaldi 3.1.1929.34 (Stable channel) (64-bit) on windows.
-
Could be.
Several google extensions are not exactly compatible in Vivaldi. -
I'm having the same problem. Any idea if this is something that is able to be fixed at some point?
-
@gumbycat99 G-extensions use chrome only API which are not supported in chromium based browsers like Vivaldi. (they may work on chrome only. No solution, I fear)
-
@Hadden89 I cannot get vivaldi to work with google drive. None of my folders open up, for one example.
I am horrified vivaldi doesn't allow quick toggling of javascript and extensions. Something opera 3.6 would have had.

I have no issues using Google Drive. Have you tested in a clean profile?
-
@BoneTone How do I open a "clean profile?"

@degarb see @Gwen-Dragon's link or https://help.vivaldi.com/article/user-profiles/

Some extensions of certain websites do not work well in Vivaldi. In these cases, I solve it by adding these pages to the Webpanel or using the pages in question directly by adding them to my bookmarks.
Gdocs works flawlessly using it directly.
Offline editing is only possible in Chrome

@Catweazle I do not understand... You mean I must add drive.google.com to my webpanel, else it won't work? That makes not sense.
-
@degarb , no, I just wanted to say that Google applications work perfectly online, either directly or added to the web panel, but to use them offline you necessarily need Chrome, they do not work with no other browser. The only alternative I can think of is Microsoft's OneDrive, but it is paid.If not, there are no other alternatives, perhaps SSuite, where there is both an online app and a desktop one, but it lacks a host and the files are saved locally.
Perhaps something can be tricked with this. -
@Catweazle Microsoft OneDrive is available for free just like Google Drive. You only pay for additional space... sort of. You can frequently get 1 TB of space free through various promotions or when using other services. I forget how exactly, it was so long ago, but I've had 1 TB without paying for a long time now. But I'm also getting a new account to use with Officer 365, so that account will also have 1 TB. They both have free & paid options, like pretty much every cloud storage service.
