Extensions' keyboard shortcuts don't work
-
Unfortunately Global shortcuts conflicts with my existing shortcuts with other applications. Hence I need Vivaldi only shortcuts
-
This issue is already 2 years old (or maybe more), loosed hope to use Vivaldi, because I need to use the extension "in Vivaldi" mode, as @arafat said too much conflic to use "Global" mode
-
This is still an issue right? I use Dark Reader (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dark-reader/eimadpbcbfnmbkopoojfekhnkhdbieeh) on a daily basis, and the shortcut Alt + Shift + D to turn it on/off does not work. I tried changing the shortcut to something like Alt +D and that did not work either.
Huh, apparently it works if you change it to "Global" instead of "In Vivaldi"

any update ?
I have been waiting for bug fixes for 3 years. -
I've just downloaded new Vivaldi 3.7.2218.52, tried assigning Vivaldi only shortcuts to my extensions and they don't work at all. I can do Global shortcuts, then they work, but then I get too many conflicts, for example when I press shortcuts in other programs, some extensions trigger in Vivaldi in inactive window. So it's not a real fix to use Global shortcuts. I can't use them like this, therefore I'm removing Vivaldi. In Opera everything works as it should. Very strange that your developers can't get something so simple fixed for so many years.

Still encountering this on

Same problem here. I can use global shortcuts, but the shortcut which I configured to use globally cannot even be used in another application anymore. The
In Vivaldi
shortcuts do not work for me at all. -
Ops, it doesn't seem that this will be fixed anytime soon, although new releases are created. It is very unfortunate that a supposedly simple fix for feature that has been implemented years ago does not get any priority in an otherwise really nice browser.
Power users strive to let browsers do their work. I can't live without a browser which doesn't allow me to specify custom searches, which then can be used with aliases or nicks in the search bar. That is an absolute must. God thanks Vivaldi did care about those.
I nowadays also store my passwords not only cross device but also cross browser using Bitwarden. There's no shortcut for the left hand which I can completely abandon to use in any other application, because Vivaldi won't let me fill in my password for it locally. But using Bitwarden also free's me from not simply being able to change my browser. So while I enjoy how it looks and feels and how customizable it is, I will not sacrifice comfort for how things look. I've abandoned Vivaldi about a year ago after only sporadic use and today I gave it another try. It failed me after just a few hours.
Is it so hard to fix an issue that gives users the comfort of automating things and features that they added to the browser using extensions? These are the features the users care about, because they've installed those extensions. I wouldn't think that this is not important, because there's not much outcry on this forum about it. Not all people take the time to write about their frustration. They simply leave (yet another time).
See you in a year, hopefully. Maybe.

The main dealbreaker for me to fully switch to Vivaldi is that Alt+Q doesn't work.
I'm using the extension called Quickey. Turns out you can assign Alt+W to "Activate the extension". Then, you can toggle between two tabs by holding Alt and double-tapping the W key.
I tried assigning Alt+Q to "Activate the extension"; it does pop up the Quickey menu, but double-tapping doesn't work. You can assign Alt+Q to toggle action and set it as Global. Alt+Q does work here, but it makes Alt+Q not working everywhere else. This is a problem for me because I usually use multiple browsers at the same time.

@paul1149 This works, but it will also prevent the same keybinding from working in other applications. An example is: when using VS Code,
ctrl+shift+L
is used to 'select all instances of highlighted text' but this will fail ifctrl+shift+L
is set to Global within Vivaldi. -
@daevski That is why I consider it a workaround rather than a solution.

This problem occurred to my fresh install on Vivaldi-4.1. It was working fine, and suddenly, it stopped working. I reinstalled the browser and did a complete sync, but I can't get the extension keyboard shortcut to work.
I am using Raindrop.io to activate the extension and save bookmarks online. Bitwarden works by assigning the "global option" to fill up passwords and 2FA codes.
It is odd.

I've recently realised that keyboard shortcuts defined by my browser extensions don't work in Vivaldi. For example, I'm using BitWarden as my password manager, and its keyboard shortcuts don't work. Has anyone else experienced this?
Fwiw, I'm on Ubuntu Linux, latest Vivaldi version.

Shocked that the developers of an otherwise excellent browser (a) clearly don't pay attention to these comments; and/or (b) couldn't give a hoot. How can these programmers downplay or just ignore such an important feature? This thread is nearly 2 years old yet it seems to be getting worse.

I recently migrated to Vivaldi (after the Manjaro switch). I liked a lot of the available features from Vivaldi, but, I can get the extensions (that I used on Firefox) to work well on Vivaldi.
The main one is Bitwarden (which is available for both browsers) and has the same keyboard shortcut (Ctrl + Shift + L). I've searched the configurations and also vivaldi://extensions/ but all seems to be okay, it just doesn't work as it should.
The problem doesn't seem to be with the extension, because, if I change the scope of the shortcut to global in vivaldi://extensions/ (Drawer Menu > Keyboard Shortcuts) it works. The only problem is that's not a permanent fix, as I will be using this shortcut in other software.
Does anyone here know how to fix this?

Looks to be happening to me on version 4.2.2406.48 with the Dark Reader extension. I've used Ctrl+D to toggle dark mode and it's worked fine for months until now. Restarted Vivaldi, changed from 'Global' to 'In Vivaldi' in the shortcuts menu, tried using a different key combination. Tried in Chrome and the same keyboard shortcut works fine when choosing 'in Chrome'. Hope this gets fixed as its a super useful shortcut for me.

I have the right same issue as @speedwaykills2, I'm on the same version 4.2.2406.48 (Stable channel) (64-bit) using Windows 10 OS Version 2009 (Build 19043.1237), and this is really important for me, please fit it soon.
