Flashing black screen & Clock

Windows 10 Pro Ver 1809.
Vivaldi 3.0.1874.32 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
Revision a4ad55328a0fa1deb54ebaa46a4fd73aab7f1f5b
OS Windows 10 OS Version 1809 (Build 17763.1158)
JavaScript V8 8.1.307.31
Flash 32.0.0.363When launching Vivaldi I an seeing a very brief black screen flashing and then disappearing. It appears as if there is a commend screen doing something in the background. This only happens when I launch Vivaldi and not during any usage. It does not appear to impact anything but seeing a possible commend screen open and shut is unnerving.
Also, the new clock is not working right. I accidentally deleted (closed) a couple of the tabs and there is no way to restore the clock to default status. I tried looking in contextual menus and also in the browser settings area. Nothing.
Anyone else?

Hi. I can understand that, but it really should not be happening. If it happens too fast to see what goes on, maybe use something like ShareX to record the screen when it happens, so you can see if there's any output in the cmd window.
I would check the shortcut you use to launch Vivaldi. What does it point to?
Are you running some kind of AV/Security/Parental Control application in the background? Try pausing it.For the clock issue, I'd recommend starting a new thread. Mixing different issues to troubleshoot is not a good idea. Also I can't see how closing tabs would in any way affect the clock.

@Pathduck
I just updated to the latest version and I still seem to have the flashing black screenVivaldi 3.0.1874.33 (Stable channel) (64-bit)

Flash 32.0.0.363Note that it seems to only make this odd flash after the browser has been idle for a while. It I close the browser and re-launch it within a minute or two there is no additional flash.
Prior versions of Vivaldi did not do this, neither the current version or one back as reported in the original post. This is new behavior.
There has been no major update to the Av program, which is AVG at current version levels.
I have additional Chrome-based browsers installed as stand-by spares and for testing web pages. These include Google Chrome, MS Edge-Chrome (Chrome-Development-Canary channel), and Opera. All fo these are at current version levels. None of these other Chrome-based browsers are experiencing this behavior so by default the suggestion is that it is something in Vivaldi's specific code that is doing this.
FWIW, I also tested this using Firefox (Gecko) and Pale Moon (Goanna) and neither of these Mozilla type browsers are seeing this.
The flashing black screen was introduced in Vivaldi from two minor updates back.
As noted... Launch Vivaldi, pause for about 1-2 seconds, then a strange background black screen that is too fast for me to see what is happening, or to see if something i being launched or set. Totally unique to Vivaldi at this point.

@dmkroslindale I thought you said this happens on launch? A video showing the behaviour would help, to be able to actually understand what this "black screen" is.
As for what might or might not have happened it earlier versions, it's a moot point now. What's interesting is what's happening in the current version.
Also not that often AV and security software have various methods to detect and exclude the major browsers, while Vivaldi is not always included in such methods. That's why I asked you to try pausing the software.

--- Lenovo ThinkPad T-420 / Intel i5 Core /Still experiencing a strange screen flash and observing what appears to be a command Window opening and closing rapidly before the browser stabilizes. It flashes too quick to determine what is happening in the background. I have noticed that if Vivaldi is idle (off) for a period, at launch i will see this black screen flash, however if I were to close it and re-open it within 5-10 seconds I do not see this.
I have the browser to delete all session data when the browser is closed. I wonder if this is resetting something or phoning home?
I tried pausing AVG anti-virus (also current and up to date) and that did not produce any changes.
And as noted in the original, I also have alternate Chrome browsers installed, specifically Google Chrome and Opera for comparison sake. Also all current versions. None of those are exhibiting this behavior.
Any suggestions welcome.

@dmkroslindale Have you followed my suggestion from earlier and made a screen recording of what happens when you launch? It would help to understand what you're actually seeing.
