My vivaldi's tabs are completely black
-
as you can see, the tab is just completely black all of the sudden, I have done:
-swapping themes
-changing the location of the tabs
-reinstalling vivaldi
-restarting my laptop
-telling my laptop about how much of a janky piece of shit it is.
-moving my tabs around to see if they refreshAnd nothing has fixed it so far, looking for suggestion from you good people, please help and thank you.

@Kabloey Welcome to the Vivaldi Community!
It looks like you've activated the dark mode flags for web contents. Maybe it interferes with one of your extensions or some of your settings.
Please copy the output from Menu > Help > About here in a code block.
Are you using some kind of CSS mod?
Are you using a window background image in Settings > Appearance?
Have you changed some settings under Settings > Appearance > Color?Does the same show in Guest View, this is to exclude any extensions or settings interfering.

Vivaldi 2.11.1811.52 (Stable channel) (64-bit) Revision 88f335a58f46e6372fa8f4d540ccac8380af31a6 OS Windows 10 OS Version 1909 (Build 18363.778) JavaScript V8 8.0.426.30 Flash 32.0.0.363 C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\pepflashplayer64_32_0_0_363.dll User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/80.0.3987.163 Safari/537.36 Command Line "C:\Users\rusto\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\Application\vivaldi.exe" --profile-directory=Default --app-id=mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli --flag-switches-begin --flag-switches-end --enable-audio-service-sandbox --ppapi-flash-path="C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\pepflashplayer64_32_0_0_363.dll" --save-page-as-mhtml Executable Path C:\Users\rusto\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\Application\vivaldi.exe Profile Path C:\Users\rusto\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default
Also, no CSS mod
The background image is purely from the ones vivaldi provided
And I never touched anything under settings > appearance > colorAlso, using guest view doesn't help

@Kabloey OK that's weird.
Under Settings > Webpages try to turn off "Use hardware acceleration..." and restart Vivaldi.
Also try to set the dark mode flags back to default to exclude these from causing it.
-
Have turned off the dark mode extension completely off, and also restarted vivaldi after disabling the "Use Hardware acceleration" bit
Same old, same old.

Yeah, something's very wrong. Some things in your screenshot has me scratching my head too:
- Why is the tab in the last screenshot so large, filling almost the whole tab bar?
- What is the empty space left of the DDG icon, with a vertical divider after? How does that get there? Try left/right-clicking that area and see if anything pops up.
But I still suspect extensions. Try going into the extensions and disable all of them, then restart Vivaldi. Maybe the Guest mode is not enough to disable some extensions.
Go to
vivaldi://system
and expand the Extensions part and paste here. -
- Just been opening tabs while I wait, it's mostly just roblox and this one doom mod download page, don't worry about it.
- It's this,
I have turned off all extensions, gimme a moment to restart vivaldi and tell you on what's up next.
Edit: I have restarted vivaldi, to no effect, but at least I got the extended extensions bit.

OK so on #1: I was wondering why the single tab took up so much space. Usually they would be limited to 180px or similar. But maybe there's a setting I don't know about. Just thought it looked strange and could be related to the issue somehow.
#2: Right, so its just the Profile avatar. Another bug I guess, sometimes it won't show at all for some users who don't use Sync or don't have a community avatar.
On the extensions list: I assume this was after disabling all extensions. But there's still the "TubeBuddy" extension. Maybe this is some leftover that didn't get removed properly. Do you have that one in your Extensions page at all? If not try going into the profile path and under Extensions see if you have a folder named
mhkhmbddkmdggbhaaaodilponhnccicb
.I really don't know what's going on here. Maybe someone else will come along and have seen this before. Since you've tried everything now I guess a bug, and it does look like a UI rendering bug since there's no icon, nothing at all there.
You can of course report it here:
https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/
But since there is no way to reproduce this for others at the moment, it might be hard to fix.If nothing else works, then maybe a full reset is in order.
https://help.vivaldi.com/article/full-reset-of-vivaldi/ -
Just so you and everyone else knew before I completely leave this forum to oblivion until I need it again,
Yes, doing a full reset does fix the issue.
While this bad boy is still like this, I think it's completely minor in the grand scheme of things.
Thanks for the help regardless.

@Kabloey That's good to hear
Sorry you had to do a profile reset... sometimes it is necessary...When reinstalling extensions and getting your settings back up, make sure to keep control on what's being done. Maybe if it happens again you'll be able to find a way to reproduce it and then it should be easy to fix for the devs.
And make sure you enable Sync to avoid having to restore bookmarks/etc manually.
BTW did you figure out what that "TubeBuddy" thing was doing there?
