Google Docs disappearing text
-
Has anyone else encountered this? Whenever I open a doc or spreadsheet in Google docs/sheets respectively, the text disappears. I can see the layout of the spreadsheet, but the cells' contents is not there.
Opening the same link in Firefox does not exhibit this behaviour. Docs display as normal. -
@Heston_in_Mtl sorry for the trouble and sorry for not getting back to you earlier. Is this still happening with Vivaldi most recent version?
If so, please share with us, which Vivaldi version and Linux distro do you use?
Lastly do you use any extensions? If so, which ones?

Oh, really glad I found this topic. Yes, I am having this same issue.
I actually just noticed, since you mentioned Linux, that this behavior doesn't happen in Linux Mint 20 with latest (I can't check previous releases atm).
I'm seeing this behavior in multiple builds of Win10, latest Vivaldi version included. Can't pinpoint when this started happening but it's been at least a year.
The way I would word this is, when you single-click any cell with text in it, you just select the cell. But if you then do nothing for 5-10 seconds, you're placed into cell-edit mode with the contents of the cell cleared. If you click away, the contents are gone.
When you first open a Sheet, you're automatically placed in A1 (normal behavior for Sheets). If you're just looking at a spreadsheet, that cell will be cleared within seconds. Likewise, when you click around, any cell you click can clear if you pause on it for too long.
My workaround has been to immediately select an empty cell when I open a Sheet. And when I need to view the contents of a cell with a formula, I have to press Ctrl-Z if I've looked at it for 5+ seconds. Basically the rule is, never pause on a non-empty cell. It's really dangerous.
Glad it's not just me at least
OK, some troubleshooting for OP: This does not happen in a Private window. I have the following Extensions disabled in Private (meaning if it's an Extension, one of these is at fault)... perhaps you could share what we use in common, and I could play with disabling those?:
Google Translate
View Image (google image search result button)
CheckerPlus for Gmail
Okta
CaretTab (new tab page)
Privacy[.com] (virtual payment cards)
Authenticator (MFA)
DarkReader (turned OFF for Sheets)Now that I noticed Private Window doesn't have the problem, I will play with turning off extensions some time this week. Hope all that helps, I will update this post soon.
EDIT: Just realized I'm in a Linux forum and that OP means all the cells, so apologies if I shouldn't be here. I can open a new topic under the correct section after I play with extensions.
