Desktop shortcuts. Changing the look/picture...whatever it's called
-
Thanks for this browser
I know how to put a URL shortcut on the desktop............however they are all the same red boxes with a V in them
So my desktop is covered with red boxes :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:
I've been unable to change them to something else, or better still, allow them to display as the website intended
Is this something that can be done?

@PhilJ In the shortcut properties there is a choice of three icons, but you would need some other method to get a thumbnail of the web site.

In addition to what Pesala says above, it seems that Vivaldi omits the
IconFile=
setting in a desktop .URL file so it just defaults. In Firefox a dropped shortcut will actually have the favicon of the site, which is neat and I think something users would expect.
Probably this is a feature missing in Chromium-based browsers, it's the same in Opera. Can't test with Chrome as I don't have it - maybe someone could?
Anyway, @PhilJ feel free to make a feature request for this if you use this function a lot:

(I couldn't find an existing one when searching) -
@PhilJ and @Pathduck, vote for Modify the URL Shortcut Icon Created by Drag and Drop a URL to the Desktop
Finding feature requests is mostly about guessing the right search string. Add this link as a Web Panel and change the search string if the first one does not find any results, or if it finds too many.

@Pesala That post is not the same thing. The title seems like the same but the content makes no sense at all.
I don't actually use the feature myself but I'd upvote it if it existed
