Javascript window close is not working anymore {Note popup in OTRS 5}

Hi,

Just share my experience about the new version. It seems that Javascript window.close() is not working anymore. It turns a blank screen instead after running the close function. Are there any work around for that? Thanks!

Read the sample that it seems fine in my browser. However, it's not the case for me.

I'm using OTRS 5.0.1 on my Windows 10 desktop and here is the demo video www.zeuscho.hk/tmp/cap.avi. If you would like to a live test, you may have to deploy the OTRS system on your own. Thank you!

window.close() is no longer supposed to work unless YOU have opened the window. There are several older articles about that for Chrome as well. The principle that @Gwen-Dragon has shown is the right one. I guess that Question at Stackoverflow is related to yours.

Yes I know. This is an old article. May be I'll compare which Chromium version with 2.9 and 2.10 to find out. Thanks for your advice.

@lccycho I was wondering how it comes that during those last Vivaldi stables, there should be some substantial changes you describe. It shouldn't. If you have a test case that works perfectly fine in 2.9 but doesn't so in 2.10, please file a bug report.

@lccycho Worlaround: Vivaldi Settings → Appearance → Open popup as Tabs.
Then all is fine.

Yes, I think it occurs for some circumstances only.
