New Snapshot (1.0.156.2) : Feature polish and tons of bug fixes
-
Hi, As each day passes, we close in on the next TP. We are spending lots of time fixing as many issues as possible to make the TP3 as good as it can be. We hope you are as excited as we are. To mention some of the most important changes and fixes, we fixed several issues related to installer/autoupdates. It should no longer cause any of the update/uninstall issues seen in the previous snapshot build. Keyboard shortcuts received several new fixes. It now has ability to restore/delete them in an easier fashion. There are also couple of new keyboard shortcuts in the settings: Tile tab stack vertically: Ctrl + F9 Tile tab stack horizontally: Ctrl + F8 Tile tab stack to gid: Ctrl + F7 Zoom in: 0, + Zoom out: 9, - Improvement on Spatial navigation is ongoing. Hopefully, you find it more usable in this build with the recent bug fixes and algorithm optimizations. For those of you on Mac, we've done some work for the main menu. Vivaldi now controls it from JavaScript and displays all the menu items which were previously not accessible in the main menu. We appreciate all the feedback and comments we get on these snapshot, and could not have come this far without them. Thank you! https://vivaldi.net/en-US/blogs/teamblog/item/24-snapshot-1-0-156-2-feature-polish-and-tons-of-bug-fixes //Christian - Vivaldi Technologies

Autoupdate returns an error wile trying to update…
EDIT:
Now it works.

#1 Ok, installed but some "one key shortcuts" bugs are still present
(especially while typing on quickreply field of some vBullettin powered forums, 1,2,3,4… are still acting in the wrong way)
#2 vivaldi://startpage still not working as homepage.
#3 XDA-developers forum (using the XDA-Classic theme) is not even possible to get the quickreply field focused.

Just noticed, the "per site" menu setting usually available clicking on the left of the address field, is gone in this build.
-
I'm not missing it. Try reinstall? Not only it is not missing, each option has a cute little icon. I've already used per-site menu twice today.

Can anyone confirm the following? (32-bit v1.0.156.2 on 32-bit Win7)
[new v1.0.156.2 BUGS]:
• Right-click context menu "Save image as", "Save link as" automatically saves target to download folder without presenting "Save As" dialog
• ditto above with Ctrl+S or Menu>File>Save As for images opened in a new tab (no "Save As" dialog presented)
Edit: FWIW, these are all images in the Vivaldi forum
Edit2: ditto open PDFs (Ctrl+S or Menu>File>Save As save automatically with no "Save As" dialog presented)
…Also, FWIW, Always save files to default download location setting makes no difference -

Reinstalling solves almost always nothing unless you are in win 3.11 or so.
BTW I already wrote in the blog that the menu went back after a windows logoff and logon.

@Sajadi: Seems like you are confirming part of what I reported above, but you didn't mention your platform (Windows, Linux, Mac) or bitness (32-bit/64-bit).
If you get a chance, could you check on any of the others I reported?
Thanks.

@Sajadi: Thanks for confirming. Just wanted to be sure it wasn't something funky about my own installation.

@jubuttib: Thanks for confirming.
Initially, I was also finding the following with downloads (on a fresh v1.0.156.2 standalone installation):
•file download often starts then stalls and never completes, or only completes up to several minutes later
•file download often "starts" at 0 bytes and simply stalls immediately, apparently without downloading any bytes at all
•frequently multiple attempts (via Ctrl+S, context menu or Menu > Save As) are necessary to get a "Save As" dialog for a webpage; then after a long delay, multiple "Save As" dialogs pop up stacked over each other in same location on screen, only one of which will accept input in the filename text field (others must be cancelled to discover which one works, probably the "first" one)I'm pretty sure I had noticed this occasionally in previous Vivaldi versions, but at first this version (v1.0.156.2) was nearly impossible to use for any downloading… ...oddly, after several hours of use, this problem improved considerably, which makes no sense to me at all [[i]maybe (?) when I closed Otter browser or Opera 12.17 I had running in the background (?)]. I think the stalled downloads mentioned in the first 2 items also improved, but I haven't been doing enough downloading since then to confirm that.
