Clear Vivaldi Cache
-
I am using 2.9.1705.34 (Stable channel) (64-bit). So
NCLottery.com
redid it's website a week ago. While Vivaldi worked fine before, now it will only let me log in. Not enter tickets. Of course they seem to never have heard of vivaldi. They say delete Vivaldi cache or download Chrome. I do NOT want Chrome. I can find no way of deleting Cache in Vivaldi. Does it exist? Can I do that? Cache no longer appears under "Tools" "Clear Private Data". -
@ModernMode Welcome to Vivaldi
Well, I can't test the site because they won't let us Euros in. But the clear cache option is right there in the dialog:
Have you tried with a User Agent Switcher set to Chrome? If you do, you can also let them know to fix their broken UA detection because Vivaldi should work fine. Read this help article:

@Pathduck When I go into tools I do not have Clear Private Data as an option. How did you get to this screen?
-
@ModernMode click the lock icon next to the URL, I'm pretty sure that's how that dialog was accessed. It's site tools but specific to the current site. Meaning that choosing the cache using the dialog I mention won't clear your entire cache, only the local storage related ti that specific site.
-
@bonetone I cleared Site Setting Cache and Cookies but it did not work. Site will let me log in but not do anything.
-
The tool "Delete Browsing Data" is not 100%, mostly due to the UI. It's a known issue in terms of the code
Here is my contribution:
chrome://settings/clearBrowserData -

I have sent an email to the site. But not holding my breath.
-
@ModernMode Did you report a bug?

It's right there in the Tools menu. It's called "Delete Browsing Data" now, maybe it was named differently earlier.
Generally though, telling users to "clear cache" is just the standard reply for a support person who does not understand the issue. I believe in most cases clearing cache does nothing to solve the issue as it's usually not an issue with cache at all.
Did you try the site with a UA switcher? If it works you have evidence their user-agent detection is broken.
-
I do it normally and Clear Browser Data in History Page (Ctrl + H), but also on a regular basis, using Glary Utilities.

@ModernMode Force reload (Ctrl+F5) would reload the page from the server without clearing the cache. IMO deleting cookies for the site is more likely to work as long as you know your password and username to log in again.
-
So far I've tried everything except User Agent Switcher with no success. I've filed a bug report and also sent an email to the lottery website. If I get no results from them, I'll try the User Agent Switcher. Thanks

Maybe something is blocking it at your pc? No problems here.

stpvid1 are you using Vivaldi version 2.9.1705.34 (Stable channel) (64-bit) or an older version. I downloaded the latest version last week.

Today I attempted again to enter
NCLottery.com
. Nothing had changed but I noticed on the right side of the address bar is an emblem. Two horizontal arrows pointing in opposite directions. Lower left corner of the emblem is a red circle with a white horizontal bar inside it. When I hover my mouse over it, it reads "Content has been blocked". Has anyone ever seen this emblem before? Is this a Vivaldi emblem or somewhere else? I have AVAST but I turned it off and that did not affect the emblem. -
When I click on the icon, I get a box. The top of the box says "Blocked Content". There is a link to "allow cookies for this site". There's also a box for "Manage Cookies" and a box for "Close". I have told it to allow cookies but that still does not allow me to use the website.
-
I finally solved the problem. In Vivaldi I had the box checked to Block Third-Party Cookies. Unchecked that and the lottery site now works perfectly.

@ModernMode
Hi, fine but you will receive cookies from everyone now.
Check chrome://settings/content/cookies
and enable NCLottery.com with allow > add
[*.]nclottery.com
then check Block Third-Party Cookies again and test.
If you don´t care about you can leave it unchecked of course.
I have allowed only trusted domains to keep of tracking.Cheers, mib
