Vivaldi tries to load http://xn--process-per-site-bg6i/ on startup
-
A few weeks ago I launched Vivaldi and it no longer loaded the 3 websites I have configured to auto-start, but instead it attempted to load a single tab with the URL http://xn-process-per-site-bg6i/ (note there are actually 2 - characters between the "xn" and "process" but the forum software would not allow that to be used and erased both the "xn" and the dashes if I tried). I've used Vivaldi for well over a year now and those 3 sites have always loaded just fine. It was version 2.8.x at that time. I scanned my profile directory (user_name\appdata\local\vivaldi) to see where it was referenced and found instances of that string in the following files:
- user data\default\Preferences
- user data\default\Last Tabs
- user data\default\History
I moved Last Tabs and History to another folder and edited the Preferences file to remove the string, but when I started Vivaldi again the same URL tried to load (and not the 3 in my configuration). I disabled all of my extensions and closed Vivaldi. I then moved Last Tabs and History again and edited Preferences once more and when I reloaded Vivaldi that URL still tried to load. I did some internet searching, as well as poking around this forum, but couldn't find anything so I gave up trying to fix it. When I upgraded to version 2.9 this afternoon the browser restated to apply the update and for that one time the unusual URL no longer load while my 3 websites did (with all the extensions running). I assumed the problem was magically fixed until I shut down for the day and started my laptop again this evening. That's when I was confronted by the same problem; the 3 websites in my configuration are not loading and that bizarre URL tries to.
At this point I'm stumped. Does anyone have any idea what that URL is and how I can get rid of it? It's gotten to be pretty frustrating because I can't auto-load the websites I want to.

Check your vivaldi shortcut.
You may have--process-per-site
after vivaldi.exe which is converted to an opened tab ashttp://xn-process-per-site-bg6i/
(I see it with another vivaldi copy which have a
–disk-cache-size=10
converted tohttp://xn--disk-cache-size/%3D10-2t2l/
Reported this as
VB-60082
, a command shouldn't be opened as a tab.

[I actually think is a bug/regression, but unsure if it was already reported]
Bingo! My icon did indeed have "--process-per-site" appended to the executable. Once removed it works as intended.
I wholeheartedly agree it's a bug because for sure I never added that to the command line.
I spent 2 hours trying to diagnose this problem and you fixed it in 2 minutes. I very much appreciate the assistance.

Hello there,
What happens if you start Vivaldi from command line?
Edited: grammar

Starting from the command line or my shortcut now produces the same response, the browser loads my 3 configured websites.
