Speed Dial vs Start Page?

What's the difference between the Speed Dial in the mobile version and the Start Page in desktop?
Is it for those who want different start pages on mobile vs desktop?
Personally I like to have the same page and bookmarks on both devices, so for now I've set mobile to Start Page. Hopefully it will remember this, as I've cleared out the Speed Dials on mobile.

@Pathduck Speed Dial and Start Page are essentially the same thing. The options and flexibility on mobile are more restricted at this point - but my "speed dial" on mobile is the same set of bookmarks, and the same set of alternate pages/folders as on desktop.

Yeah, I've played around with it a bit, and turns out you can have several bookmark folders set as Speed Dial on mobile, and this setting will also sync to desktop. However, I noticed this might not be ideal, as I set my "News" folder as Speed Dial and when synced to desktop, it took over my regular "Start Page".
I think it remembers what folder was last selected and will use this on both devices?
Possibly the reason for calling it "Speed Dial" on mobile was to make sure users without an active Start Page on desktop would still get a selection of default sites on mobile.

@Pathduck Perhaps. It's called speed dial on desktop, too, of course, and the terms are interchangeable. OldeOpera (under Jon) invented Speed Dial, and Chromium calls its version of Speed Dial "Start Page."

For me it's always been called "Start Page" which kind of is consistent with what the option in Settings is called. I seem to remember it was called "Start Page" when I installed Vivaldi and it's just stuck...?
I think I will rename it to be Speed Dial as that's what it was called in Opera.

@Pathduck Yes. Again, inherited from Chromium

Start Page is the page where your favorite bookmarks, Speed Dials, are on.
