Context menu, few requests
-
Congrats on what seems to be the most promising browser of the new breed. Many things are missing(not for too long, i hope ) from the old Opera that I got accustomed to, but only a few would make everyday browsing much easier for me, and possibly for few other folks. If it is possible to add several smart context menu items that would IMHO speed up browsing: 1. Paste & Go 2. Search selection in new/background tab 3. Open/Go to link in new/background tab 4. Translate selection All these were possible to add to Presto Opera through .ini files, I wonder if such possibility exists for Vivaldi, and how hard would it be to implement?

Editing the context menu options by editing the ini was great, I got rid of all the useless options on my setup. I wonder if Vivaldi plans to add a similar feature.
-
Indeed, handling of .ini files throughout Opera Presto was one of if not the most powerful feature, beside performance, Opera had. It put the users into control of interface and some other advanced and often useful settings. I can only hope something similar will or is coming to Vivaldi since large number of Opera Presto developers is working now on Vivaldi.
I hope the team can these small context menu additions before we see .ini support.

1. Paste & Go
This and Go button(s) are the things I miss more, beside the mail client, I really hope for the highest priority
2. Search selection in new/background tab
Useful too, but in my usage not as point 1
3. Open/Go to link in new/background tab
I care really little about this, since the middle button function is working since the day one.
4. Translate selection
Translate works, more or less, via the Chromiunm extension, obviously a real vivaldi function would be very welcome.

I'm afraid you can forget about the ini, at least. Most of the chromium things are working trough database files. So using inis for vivaldi would be something like mixing water and oil…

Chromium makes a lot of uses of JSON, much can be implemented with it. I could change SD thumbs by editing the bookmark JSON.
-
As I have always understood it, JSON identifies objects using 2-dimensional database notation. So, it's a database protocol at its root.

Sure, there are the json files too that sometimes can be useful to do nice things, but the flexibility of Opera inis is far away, and i guess will be. At least for the near future.

Indeed, but it's "human readable". Against other databases used which are not "human readable", like the cache and the thumbs cache.

With JSON they can use the, already included, V8 engine. While inis would require code to translate them. Because of that we may never see inis back.

Yes, is what I said.
BTW is funny to see the drift of nowadays IT trends.
The need to translate a plain text file is both true and laughable. :cheer:

In Settings, Search, you can set your own default search engine and delete others if you wish. Your default will be used by the context menu.

it is not working
!
what why i hate opera where you even can't to delete default search engines and can't even to add of myself where is just no space for that to use them in gui.By the way Print menu is really useless, how often people print web page? It's has shortcut why it need in context menu? Half of people do not have printer though
-
The ability to edit the context menu and add/remove things from it is not available (yet).
Note: People do use Print without a printer - they "print" web pages to a pdf file.

it is not working
It works for me. I just set my default search to wikipedia and searched for Search Engine selected in your post.
