Perfect! Working like a charm. Just what I needed. Many thanks!

i got it installed fine and can see it installed but its not working and i have no options? i get pop ups same as i did without it?

Go here: code.getadblock.com/releases/
Get the latest version ZIP. Unzip it.Go here: vivaldi://chrome/extensions and choose Load Unpacked Extension and point to unzipped adblock files from above.
Thank you. That worked like a charm. Everything is much better now.
I can't believe they released a browser without an easy-to-install ad blocker.

… I can't believe they released a browser without an easy-to-install ad blocker.
Believe it. Vivaldi was released as a Tech Preview, that has only had two updates in its very short life. There will naturally be a number of significant bugs, incomplete elements, and omissions when following this kind of path. Every user right now has their own "I can't believe" story. What will matter far more is where things stand in a couple of months or a year from now.

As noted by RRR13, it has not been released. I feel privileged to be testing this early in the pre-release stages..

In case someone didn't notice yet - you can just go to the chrome web store and click on "add to chrome". Works for me for every extension I need. (using 64 bit vivaldi)

Ad Muncher is really good. I use it with modified hosts file and don't have to worry about crashing extensions in Vivaldi
I know that some people want total control, but at this stage it's better to use universal filter and not wondering if the browser crashed because of extension… or maybe because of bug

Would love to try out ublock while trying out Vivaldi, can't seem to get the crx file though, tried a zip from github, but it fails trying to load the extension with a javascript error.
Could not load javascript 'js/vapi-client.js' for content script.Edit: nevermind, I am a maroon. Downloded the master zip by mistake. First time trying the chrome store I got a dead bird icon, then couldnt even get to the download now button any long , just a desc of the app.

For me Adguard is working even better then Adblock and with Adguard context menu on right click is showing options to manually block ads.
You can install it through the Chrome Store and everything works perfect.Download: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adguard-adblocker/bgnkhhnnamicmpeenaelnjfhikgbkllg

I suggest µBlock is lighter than the others and it works well.

This trick worked for me, using Adblock and Ghostery! Thanks OP

I don't know how people managed to install Adblock, because when I click on the links above I get a about:blank page, nothing's there, also when I click on getadblock on their official site. It doesn't work.

You need to copy paste the extension link into the address bar, and then load the extensions manually as an unsigned extension. It's technically trickier than what you're used to, and also unsupported. Do at your own risk!
-
Just FYI, when I said I wasn't able to get uBlock to install, I meant even after downloading the CRX file using that site and dragging it into the Extensions panel.
[ol]
- What you need to do is extract the .crx file to it's own folder using 7-zip/Winrar. A .crx file is just a .zip file with a different file extension name.
- Open the folder you extracted the extension to and rename _metadata to metadata
- As posted earlier in this thread next you enable developer mode inside of the extentions pages and click load unpacked extension.
- Browse to the folder you extracted your .crx file to and click ok. Your extension will now be installed.
[/ol]
Operation is a success!
This seems to have worked for me. Wonder if/when extension support is coming
It is definitely a source of some slowdown, which is sad. But it's a necessary evil these days :-S

Installed the unpackaged AB module, and it works flawlessly! Thank you!

You don't need to follow this process in the more recent versions of Vivaldi, Adblock (and some other ad blocking extensions, like uBlock) can be installed directly into Vivaldi via the Chrome Web Store.
If you're using Technical Preview 2, you can download the latest Vivaldi snapshot from the developers' blog.
If you don't see the "Add to Chrome" button in the Chrome Web Store, you might need to sign in using your Google account.

I think if you first visit the Chrome Web Store using the icon at the lower right corner of the vivaldi://apps page (not the icon in the middle of that page), the Chrome Web Store will serve you the "Add to Chrome" button without any need for a login.
In my experience, after doing this once, later visits to the Chrome Web Store will work regardless of path (the icon in the middle of of the vivaldi://apps page, bookmark, Google search, etc.). This seems to be consistently repeatable across several standalone installations in at least the last 3 Vivaldi versions.
[Notice the URL for that icon in the lower right corner ([i]https://chrome.google.com/webstore?hl=en-US&utm_source=chrome-ntp-launcher in my case). I am assuming the URL somehow signals the Chrome Web Store servers to display the "Add to Chrome" button (probably the utm_source=chrome-ntp-launcher portion, I'm guessing). The URL for the icon in the middle of the vivaldi://apps page doesn't display in the Status Bar, and I didn't check the source code, but I'm assuming it doesn't have this chrome-ntp-launcher portion appended to the URL.]

You seem to be right, thanks for the information.

You're welcome!

Hello,
Is there a way to add uBlock's own icon next to address bar?
I've installed uBlock origin successfully on TP3, it works, but I'd love to have its icon seen.
I can't find a way to enable it.
Any ideas, or is it currently not possible?
Thanks in advance,
