Adblock blocking in chromium.

Very shortly, Chrome is going to be disabling adblock extensions. Will other chromium browsers have to follow suit?

this is probably the 10th post about it

@palmoon This is already being discussed in another thread in the Extensions forum and I've posted my comments there as well. It's still a bit early to say how this whole situation will pan out and how Google will respond to concerns from extension developers.

I love Vivaldi, you guys do a great job.
However I'm very worried about the latest news regarding Chrome/chromium:
https://www.zdnet.com/article/chrome-api-update-will-kill-a-bunch-of-other-extensions-not-just-ad-blockers/What's Vivaldi's stance on this? Since you depend on the chromium engine you could stand out from the crowd by maintaining privacy-friendly and adblock-friendly APIs even if Google is trying to disable them.
Please consider, if necessary, alliances with other chrome-based browser projects in doing a permanent fork of chromium maintaining the current APIs so things like uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger and so on can continue to exist on modern browsers. I and others would even be willing to pay (gasp!) yearly to fund a team truly dedicated to maintaining the viability of consumer-friendly plugins.
Consider allying with the EFF in order to fight these anti-privacy changes by Google.

@Russtopia I Merged your thread with this one. I don't think we need any more threads on this topic.
I suggest reading some of the other threads.
