@Pesala It's weird, only chrome will remember web history. none of the other browsers will. i think this problem is unique to windows 10...Any idea!
thanx -
@amilaclimax not unique to Win10, as everything saves here. Perhaps unique to your machine. If you use a cleaner, that may be the culprit.
-
@Ayespy The problem is too weird:face_with_stuck-out_tongue_winking_eye: Vivaldi saves history if only I let windows to close it. (when shutting down the pc, If I were to close it by using the notification area icon it won't save any history, this is because only vivaldi have it's icon at the notification area when using vivaldi. other browsers don't have their icons at the notification when running. )
-
@amilaclimax Vivaldi does not appear in the notification area here, or on any of my other machines. How did you do that?
-
I seem the same result. After setting history to "Session Only," my browsing history is still there on restarting.
-
@Ayespy I didn't set vivaldi to appear at the notification area when running sometimes chrome has it's icon when running. but others don't. It's the way it is. I had nothing to do with that. Oh wait a sec. I sort of remember vivaldi has a setting upon closing "let vivaldi run in the background" No?
-
@Gwen-Dragon I think i should update windows first. cos i haven't installed October update yet i suspect problem is due to windows...(in my system)
-
@Pesala Oh :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes: that could be a bug.!I like that! because of that my history saves :smiling_face_with_open_mouth: it's the trick. (i think what's happening is this- when we let windows to close vivaldi, vivaldi won't have the time to do whatever it is it should to according to our settings after the session. windows 10 is much speeder than windows 7 when shutting down. it closes all background or foreground programs at ones. so vivaldi don't have the time to anything don't you think!!!
-
@amilaclimax If you leave Vivaldi running in the background, it may not shut down properly, and may not save things like history and session data. When you see the Chrome icon in the notification area, the Chrome update service is running. Vivalid has an update notification service, but it only puts an icon in the notification area to let you know there is an update so that you may choose to update if you wish. That does not interfere with proper shutdown.

@amilaclimax Just double check your Advanced System Care "Browser Anti-Tracking" if you're in Pro version. Make sure that the vivaldi history (any browser you using) is unchecked or just turn off the "browsing data clean". It is a separate feature from the privacy sweep/auto clean.
Had the same problem as you for about over a week, I also have an advanced system care installed and I was positive enough that it could have been the cause since all troubleshoots doesn't seem to work.
Hope this helps. It worked for me though.

@leichinzo Yup It was Advanced System Care. I turned off the browsing data clean "Privacy Sweep"
