Opening in new tab
-
When i right click a link and click "open in new tab" it is annoying that it makes the newly opened tab the selected tab automatically. I often open several tabs so that I can get to them after I am finished with the original tab that opened them such as when doing internet searches or browsing reddit. I know it is kind've specfic, but if you could make an option in settings to stay on the current tab when "open in new tab" is selected that would be much better

The first time I ran Vivaldi I was pleasantly surprised to notice that in contrast to most other browsers "open in new tab" also goes to the new tab, which I find kind of intuitive. On the other hand, like you say, often you want to open new tabs in the background. I think the power user's way would be to offer both options, like the old Opera did. Likewise with Enter and shift-Enter.

Actually this one one of the biggest or at least most visible features missing in Vivaldi and the first one I noticed when I opened it.
Yes, I'm a heavy keyboard user, but there are some things I like to do only by mouse, especially when browsing. Ctrl + click still opens it the the background, but I really want it on the right click menu.
Come to think of it, personally I've never used other than open in background, so if you ask me, it should be the first option or even the only option. -

I cannot understand why when a new link action is added in the browser it is not also added to the context menu for links.
Actually I kind of understand that the idea might be to keep the context menu simple and items easy to find there, but still, we already have tons of those "simple" and "short of features" browsers on the market. I'm sure it will be added.
I explained my browser habits on another topic. Sometimes, when I'm reading longer web pages, forums, news etc, I like to lean back on my rocking office chair which goes so far back that you can even sleep in it. Then its much nice to operate with mouse only rather than try to reach the keyboard. If I'm on my "working"/"normal" position, I use ctrl+click.
Never got used to the middle click, not with my mouse as the middle (scroll) "button" also moves sideways and I like to keep it on stepless mode. Somehow its just far more comfortable to right click than use the scroll wheel button. -
Yes, I opened another thread to make the same complaint. On a netbook with a mousepad (no middle button) it's very inconvenient to not have open-in-background-tab as a context menu option.

Quite true. So nice to see you here, BTW, Mossman.

Thanks Ayespy. It's nice to see a lot of the old Opera regulars here - and to see that most of us kept our old avatars too!
Who knew that a randomly selected picture of a kettle we'd just bought - intended to be used as a test image - would somehow end up representing me for a decade (and counting). The kettle itself was taken back to the shop and replaced, then the replacement died after five or six years of good service - and we've moved twice since the house that was taken in - but somehow I'll always be linked to that appliance and that moment in time.
Edit: oh and I nearly forgot - I just remembered CTRL+click also works as open in background!

Yeah - kept my nick and avatar on purpose, just in hopes of reconnecting with the old Opera crew.
