Aero glass title bar
-
I would like to see support for aero glass on the title bar (and possibly even other parts of the UI, like extending it down to the address bar) I'm guessing theme support is definitely going to happen at some point, though I'd like to have the ability to change the buttons and general appearance to something that isn't flat like Kryten's head.

I believe that a true aero support will never happen because the non native way the GUI is designed.
But tab trasparency is already in the settings of the latest build.
For the rest of the question, I believe that more customizzation options will came in the next weeks or months.
We have already more customization options after three builds than Opium after two years and 14 (supposed) major versions.
So the future looks bright (and also transparent

Well, if it uses its own method of rendering the UI it might help those on Windows 8 where aero glass was removed - though there are third party methods to get it back, like bigmuscle's program and windowblinds (mind you, I think windowblinds actually replaces DWM).
But tab trasparency is already in the settings of the latest build.
Do I have to download that from somewhere other than the main page? Because I don't see the option in my current version.

I look forward to seeing what's possible.

Yes, sure. But they try to emulate the functions stripped from win 7, so more or less, it's the same situation.
BTW win 8 supports some transparency, see the taskbar, but (just a guess) likely the transparency in vivaldi would be done in it's own way, w/o taking care of the underlying OS (read slower, but OS agnostic).

In the case of bigmuscle's program, it actually injects itself into DWM, in a way that shouldn't break any program that uses it, because DWM is still working essentially the same as it normally does (and very close to the way Windows 7 does).
I don't know if windowblinds breaks any programs, though I imagine it would be more susceptible to break things if they're not careful given that it replaces DWM entirely.BTW win 8 supports some transparency, see the taskbar, but (just a guess) likely the transparency in vivaldi would be done in it's own way, w/o taking care of the underlying OS (read slower, but OS agnostic).
It may not necessarily be slower, depending on how it's implemented.
If it's efficiently coded and uses GPU acceleration performance should be fast (DWM itself uses GPU acceleration, XP doesn't)http://vivaldi.net/blogs

@Ralf-Brinkmann:
But does not work here.
W7x64.Doesn't (yet) works here too (w10 x64), so I said "the setting is already present" and not "it's already working"
-
Most likely, Vivaldi's current plans are to flesh out the setting functionality at some point. In the grand scheme of things, though, Aero appearance of a bar probably doesn't loom large compared with other features and functions that are still needed.

Neither working for me: W7 Professional 64bit.

Remember that aero is ON in win 7 professional version BUT in win 7 starter ed. and home basic ed. AERO DOES NOT WORK. New Yandex browser has aero build in, but in starter ed. it does not work
-
Enabling aero on win 7 starter is pretty easy (if the VGA is supported, obviously), and possible even on not supported VGAs (if they aren't coming from the stone age).

Looks like another step back from MS is coming.
So good news for transparency lovers,
P.S. I hope the Opium guys will learn something from the win 8 fiasco.
