Sound indicator in favicon
-
I'm currently using the current Opera until Vivaldi matures.. and I've just noticed it has a pretty cool animation in its favicon area when music is playing in the tab. This seems more practical than the way its being done at the moment(where its replaced by the close tab icon), also I think it would be better to build upon the feature Opera has and allow it to mute whatever sound is coming from that tab. Thoughts? Attachments:

I like the close button on the favicon, but I also love the idea of being able to mute a tab without switching to it.

I dislike animations in the background of my focus, due to it being distractive (and it has often no real valuable information).
The current static indicator is imho sufficient.A mute function would be nice though (even better, if media playback from the respective tab could be paused at least for<video>
<audio>elements)
Or on top of that:
A setting to allow only one sound output tab (the last tab with audio output visited, all other tabs are muted/paused).
Scenario: User is listening to a playlist on youtube in the background and then decides to watch some cat-videos. The user opens a new tab and selects the video. As the cat video starts, the music gets muted. As soon as the cat video stops/pauses, the music continues (keep track of audio content tabs and reactivate the last visited automatically).</audio></video>

@AlexRupert: I completely support your post. The feature you suggested in your last paragraph would actually be pretty awesome – not sure if it's feasible, though.

Has anyone looked at vivaldi://flags yet? One of them is about using sound notification icons to mute sound … so obviously it is intended.

Out of curiosity, as I do not have Chrome installed: does anyone know if the flags under vivaldi://flags are the same as Chrome's? Or are there any new flags built specifically for Vivaldi by the devs?
Cheers,

I agree.

Didn't Opera just add this too? It's probably a new addition to Chromium so eventually all Chromium-based browsers will get it.

Found it, although I have not yet seen any sound animation.

I've added a howto to move the audio icon into the tab icon, obviously anyone with knowledge of css and js can mess around with it further if they wish
