Vivaldi fails to play videos on uktvplay.uktv.co.uk
-
Has anybody else found this?
Go to https://uktvplay.uktv.co.uk and it all seems to work normally. But as soon as you click on any of the videos, all you get is the buffering thing and the video never starts.Go to the same site on Chrome and it works first time, every time, so it's not my network.
I'm currently on Vivaldi 2.0.1309.42, but it also failed on previous versions.
I was planning to ditch all my other browsers, thinking that Vivaldi was my one-stop-shop for everything online, but I'm sadly disappointed.

@philrogers
Hi, I cant test without an account.
Is there any free video example and does it work outside the UK?Cheers, mib

@philrogers I don't have an account there, however their "advertising funded" video plays OK.
https://corporate.uktv.co.uk/commissioning/video/uktvadvertiserfundedprogrammingreel/
So I guess the first question is - does it work for you?

After trying to play the video, goto the URL
vivaldi://media-internals
and click the the section for the player to expand it. It may reveal what the issue is.Sometimes you need to set
vivaldi://flags/#autoplay-policy
to "No user gesture required".What version of Windows? What edition? Home, pro, N? N needs a media pack that you have to install.
Go to
chrome://settings/system
and turn off hardware acceleration, restart and try again.Use a user-agent switcher extension to mask as Chrome.
Some TV sites like that still use Flash. Goto
vivaldi://settings/content/flash
and add the site to the allow list. Or, click the badge at the left of the address field to do it. Install Flash if you haven't. You might even try the opposite and block flash on the site just in case the site supports Flash and HTML5 and the Flash code (that might not be working right in Vivaldi) is being preferred. You might want to check https://www.youtube.com/html5 to see what it says your Vivaldi supports.
