Where I can turn on bookmarks toolbar, please?
-
Hello, Can you help me? Where I can turn on bookmarks toolbar, please? (I mean toolbar which is usually under adress line and where are icons (and name) of my favorite webpages). Thanky you.
-
Bookmarks toolbar is not available yet. It has been requested by many people and apparently the developers are working on it.
-
Thank you for information.
I did not know it.
I am looking forwart to this feature and I hope, that it will be in newer version. Vivaldi looks great -
If this comes along and a few crashers are dealt with, Vivaldi becomes my default browser.

I agree. Just waiting on a bookmark toolbar. I've actually only had one crash. Pretty much ready to switch over.
-
I just waiting for the bookmark bar as well. Once thats ready, I'm moving right away, even with the few crashes. The other features, built-in mail, extensions etc I don't mind waiting since most of the extension I add in opera is already built-in vivaldi anyway

Well, I use my browser almost exclusively to do work. Some of the work I do daily involves obtaining results from a couple of websites that crash Vivaldi every time they display results in a popup. Further, I manage my workflow using the bookmarks bar. I went ahead and set the panel on the right so far, so that I could keep the bookmarks open and pretend it's a "bar," but it's actually too fat and busy to use the same way I use the bookmarks bar (I could almost MAKE it a bar if it were possible to narrow it to about 30 pixels or so) So although I could use it as default "recreationally," I could not truly use it as default because I'm unable to actually work in it so far.
You can see what I mean…

Interesting it had to be requested by many to start working on it. Like it was not obviously needed feature from Opera 12.
I wonder if "many" have to request an option to place this toolbar at sides, bottom and so on. Like in Opera 12. -
Agreed, bookmarks toolbar is an essential feature. Without it I wouldn't move to Vivaldi as default.

@Ralf-Brinkmann:
… A bookmarks management that can be used with the keyboard like in Opera 12.x would be ok. For example you press ALT-B (for "B"ookmarks), then always the first letter of your next branch of your bookmarks hierarchy.That's also what the users of the new Opera wanted. What did they get? A bookmarks bar that nobody wanted.
Actually, what they got was a rather inflexible bookmarks bar that can only be configured by a lot of obscure effort, and then, only partially configured. The point is that every user has certain approaches to organizing and using a browser and its displays, approaches that seem to that user especially logical. Unless a bookmarks bar/display-system and its related manager are sufficiently flexible so that the user can adapt the bookmarks and bar/display to his needs, the whole concept falls through - which, to some extent, has happened with new Opera. For maximum flexibility, a user needs to be able to nickname bookmarks, sort them in various optional ways and using various terms, display them on the bar or a list in several ways (icon'd, name+icon, name only, etc), add folders and subfolders (which show on the bar/list) in simple and direct ways, and so on. Admittedly, that may lead to a rather complex browser bookmarks system at the end of the day… but to do less is to cut off whole segments of the user community because they can't use it the way they need to.
That, I believe is Opera's bookmarks story to date: first they alienated all their potential users who rely on bookmarks by telling them bookmarks were irrelevant, then they supplied a partial bookmarks solution but failed to allow importing from other browser brands and which had no bar or side panel display, then they supplied a bar and gradually added a few more pieces to bring them to where they are today - a bookmarks solution that satisfies only part of their bookmarks-needing users... hence all the rancor and complaints about it.

@Ralf-Brinkmann:
Jon said, he wants to create a browser that can be almost completely controlled using the keyboard. That is fast and professional.
I hope Vivaldi will retain the mouse for many things: like a toolbar. For people with a disability sometimes using a mouse is easier.

What was great about Opera was that you could easily use either the mouse or the keyboard to control significant parts of your browsing.

Yes, this is what I meant. I should have elaborated. I want both ways.

I've got a bookmark's toolbar now - found it at the bottom of my bookmarks list in the left column and dragged it up to just below the address bar. Works fine.

That's a novel way to go about it. Normally one goes to Vivaldi Menu/Tools/Settings/Bookmarks Bar and clicks the radio button for the position one wants, and fills in, selects or changes the textbox to select which folder to display on the Bookmarks Bar. Whatever works for you, though…

One can also toggle the Bookmarks Bar from the View menu.

I think that may be what the user did - and then dragged a folder named "bookmarks bar" into it.
