HLS?
-
I was just trying to watch something on the Disney Channel site and instead of playing, I got an error message saying "This content requires a browser that supports HLS." Is there something I can set, or add? Or is this a mistake? Or does Vivaldi not have this? Using the latest 1.15 64 bit version on the latest Win 10.

@fred8615 If I am not wrong only Safari and Edge support it.
-
@muratservan From Wikipedia:
"HTTP Live Streaming (also known as HLS) is an HTTP-based media streaming communications protocol implemented by Apple Inc. as part of its QuickTime, Safari, OS X, and iOS software. Client implementations are also available in Microsoft Edge, Firefox and some versions of Google Chrome. Support is widespread in streaming media servers."
So I guess Vivaldi is one of the Chrome versions that doesn't have it.

@fred8615 Vivaldi is not a version of Chrome. They both built on Chromium open source project. They are different things.
Chrome and Firefox have native support for their mobile versions only.
Anyway I'm gonna try to play an HLS on Firefox and Vivaldi to check out.

No idea if it works, no links to test.

With HTML5 video/audio:
HLS in Chrome on Windows works fine. It has worked fine for me in Firefox too. I've heard HLS in Opera on Mac works fine.
HLS doesn't work in Opera on Windows though. Opera doesn't use ffmpeg for proprietary codecs (like Chrome does) and uses the Windows Media Foundation instead. But, something's wrong there with how that's done. Might be due to handling in Opera and or handling/lack of support in Windows 10. Not sure, but if it doesn't work in Vivaldi, it might be because of a similar reason.
As for handling browsing to a HLS playlist file directly, I haven't tested that to see if browsers handle it correctly and embed a player and play more than just the first stream range, or if they just download the file.
As for Opera, some things have improved with
opera://flags/#dynamic-demuxer-selection
, but I'm not sure if it helps with HLS streams. Maybe. But, in Chrome, HLS just works.

HLS is not supported yet in Vivaldi and chrome beta (win10) acording to the test, as I haven't a direct link to test the stream.
The extension posted by @Zalex108 + a site playback seems to work but otherwise vivaldi tend to dowload such streams.
Don't know on other sites.

Didn't work for me, nor did any of the other extensions in the Store that I tried.

Strangely,
The test site provided works on my system even without the extension.

@zalex108 I think the test site actually "transform" the HLS playlist into a "regular" video readble by vivaldi. But I can't be sure, not really expert on the matter.
Extension should be tested on site which ask for HLS, instead. -

Which OS are you using?
I've tried to find the file type but did not found it.

:o
Then,
I don't understand it.If talking about the Test site given:
My Os it's older and I do not use FlashPlayer, do you?
Maybe it is the difference. -

Yes I use Flash.
Well,
If it's worth, you can try uninstalling it and check what happens. In my case,
I use a profile pointing to a portable version of Flash, so you can avoid Flash but use it if you need. -
