Solved Google's voice services (search, docs, translate) not working in Vivaldi
-
same here too.
-
When I started to use Vivaldi, I noticed that the voice search for Google never seemed to work and I just hated that this browser which I believe is chrome based cannot even utilize the voice search option on Google.
What happens is that the voice search says its offline when there is clearly a connection to the internet in this screenshot below:
As you can see there is a connection to Wi-Fi down below but Google's Voice Search never knows that it is online and you can see in the address bar that permissions are given to Google.

Problem already known and in the list of bugs to be solved!

When I try to use "Search by Voice" on Google while using the Vivaldi browser it always shows "no internet connection" and does not respond to spoken voice. This function works in Chrome but I sure would like to get it to work in Vivaldi as I prefer it over Chrome.

google voice, when I click the mic icon, it just says "no Internet connection"
Still happening with Vivaldi: 1.14.1047.3 (Official Build) (64-bit)

When will the Google voice search start working?
-
"currently" for the few years.
BTW - Why was my previous post censored without any information?

@eugenewolfe If you follow the forum rules, your posts won't be edited. If you enable chat, the mods can inform you why the content was removed. Since you have Chat disabled, it is easier to just remove bad language than to get into a debate about what language is or is not acceptable, or warn you as recommended in the rules for moderators.
II'm sorry to read you feel so angry about Vivaldi's latest development. I understand your frustration with unfinished features and it takes time to make things awesome (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Opera took more than 10 years to be where they are today). Our first two rules for Vivaldi's platform are:
- "Treat others with respect
- Be courteous."
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/12248/vivaldi-community-rules
Therefore we kindly ask you to tone down your language a bit.
Your comments did not deserve a public warning. I thought you would figure out for yourself that your language was inappropriate since it has been removed, but since you asked, and have chat disabled, I have no other way to inform you and to protect Gwen from suspicion of "censorship."
Your post was not "censored." The valid question that you asked remains. The rest was unnecessary and unhelpful.

I notice this bug still hasn't been fixed!

@gwen-dragon Thank you

This might be related with voice typing not working on Google docs. I had reported it 2 years ago, hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Same problem here. Someone told me that they use the GOOGLE VOICE SEARCH on a MAC computer, but when I tried it does not work. Seen a bug report VB-11587 was filed for this some time ago. I see upon searching the web where people are told to try the Beta of GOOGLE Chrome. Really have not seen if that worked or it is back working in the release version of GOOGLE Chrome. Is there any news on if and when this is going to be working. I am currently running "Vivaldi version 1.15.1147.64 (Stable channel) (64-bit)". I have also tried the 32-bit version with the same result. I have nerve damage in my hands and using voice is easier than typing. Thank You.

Any new info on when the google voice search function will be available?
-
Searching the forum I found complaints about this going back a few years?
Also comments that it was being fixed, however, that was about 6 months ago or longer?
This is getting to be a deal breaker for me, therefore, I must ask, is it ever going to be fixed please and if so, when?
-
If this refers to a built in capability to use voice, Vivaldi won't ever do that as it would require an agreement to use Google voice services.
If this is a feature built in to the Google search and translate Web pages, it should be possible. If it doesn't work, then that is a bug.

As of 4/20/19 still not fixed

I guesss this is not yet working as I try it everytime a new update of Vivaldi is issued and I still get the No Internet connection message. I believe this is not a bug, but another sign that Google is Pissed that people would want to build a browser better than there all powerful Chrome piece of S### (Sorry, but this seems wrong to me). I noticed tthat in the new Edge browser built from Chromium that the voice search seams like it wanted to work (like it heard your voice), but returns no results. So with that browsser I get a bit further, but still no good results. Maybe this is Google way of saying to all involved that there browser is the only one going to use this stuff. Again I say that is wrong and is Piss Poor on Googles behalf. (Again sorry for the strong language).

GOOGLE VOICE SEARCH
I think it's a Google Chrome only feature that no other browser is allowed to have, or the loyalties are too high. The only alternatives I could think would be to use a virtual keyboard where you click the keyboard keys with the mouse or to use the "online speech recognition" provided in Windows 10, it works when you select a search field and speak.
