Snapshot 1.15.1146.5 ... Rebuilt my Profile again, & again, & AGAIN !
-
I chose to collect some recent posts from other forum threads, & add in my detailed personal notes taken during my last several days' troubleshooting of Snapshot 1.15.1146.5. Maybe some other user might learn something to help their own troubles if similar to this, but better yet maybe Devs might find something within to assist trying to uncover the root cause defect.
Synopsis: Sometimes making a clean profile solves the user's problems, & sometimes it doesn't. Sadly i have fallen into the latter category.
Snapshot 1.15.1146.5 ... Rebuilt my Profile again, & again, & AGAIN !!!
Steffie 6/4/18
It's a very minor point, but either for the entire 1.15.x series, or otherwise at least the last 4 Snapshots [including still this latest one], in Linux at least, the mouse pointer does not change shape when any link in any page is hovered.
Another ongoing / recent bug, again in Linux at least, is the loss of ability to drag an image from another program [Shutter, in my case] into Vivaldi Snapshot & drop it into an active text box [like this one in which i'm writing this post]. The following image [which is unrelated to anything, it's merely a random image being used as a guinea pig here] if i was using Stable, or an older SS, would have appeared via D&D, but in these recent SS's i must manually Copy, & then Paste.
=================================================================JimTDI 6/4/18
@steffie Steffie - I'm on the latest 18.3 Linux Mint, and my mouse pointer does change from an arrow to a hand with the index finger extended when I hover over your image, or over a link. Is that what you mean?
=================================================================Steffie 6/4/18
@jimtdi Hi Jim. Yes, that's what i meant, & that's what my SS used to do [& Stable still does]. Thanks for letting me know... it seems thus i have a local problem, groan; this'll be fun to track down.
=================================================================Steffie 6/4/18
@steffie Yep, definitely a local profile fault here. I quickly made a temporary virgin profile, & the pointer works correctly. Sigh. Still, i'm not going to do the work of cleaning my real profile until/unless i discern other V misbehaviours... oh wait, maybe the image non-D&D is one such? Oops, better go test that now too in another virgin profile.
=================================================================Steffie 6/4/18
@steffie Posting this from temporary virgin SS profile... image D&D pasting works fine... so that's now two known "bugs" that it transpires are not 1.15x bugs after all, but some damage in my local profile. Sigh, so that's another unplanned job needs doing today, build a new profile. Sheesh, in the >3 years i've been using V, i have lost count of the number of times i have had to make a clean profile. Such fun.
=================================================================Steffie 6/4/18
@steffie Ha. It's taken hours of trial & error testing as usual, but now my SS seems back to normal, good as gold, hunkydory, okydokey, bleedinripper etc. I am a dope though, coz the root cause seems to have been the Preferences &/or Login Data files became corrupted, & so "all" i needed to do was delete them, then manually recreate the couple of Settings that reverted to default, recreate my desired Passwords & Accepted Cookies, then reinstall all my Extensions. Given the number of times in the past i've trod this same road i dunno why this time i bothered sequentially testing many of the other files & directories first, rather than just immediately target these two files.
Linux Manjaro KDE x64 Plasma 5.12.3.....Vivaldi 1.15.1146.5 (Official Build) snapshot (64-bit).
=================================================================.
7/4/18: Well, that was a false-dawn, sadly. Less than 24 hrs after my abridged profile clean, the symptoms returned, damnit. Hence this evening i have had to do it the long hard way... new virgin profile, with only these legacy files + one folder reused:- Sessions/
- Bookmarks
- Cookies
- Current Session
- Current Tabs
- Custom Dictionary.txt
- Favicons
- History
- Last Session
- Last Tabs
- Notes
- Top Sites
- Web Data & Notes README Steffie
Hence, where all the time [hours] for this process gets eaten up because of the virgin start:
- Recreate all my Vivaldi Settings [except this time i gave up on redoing my many custom themes]
- Recreate all my Chromium Settings, not only but especially:
a. Privacy and security
b. Passwords and forms
c. Languages
d. System - Recreate all my Web Panels.
- Reinstall all my Extensions, then reconfigure them [including importing the backup files where available].
- Redo Experiments [trivial, but still needs doing]
- Redo Flags

.
9/4/18: 15:00: Oh expletive expletive expletive, the symptoms have returned [actually they did yesterday, but i was in denial]. More testing this morning revealed that running V-SS in Firejail or Naked is irrelevant. Furthermore, whatever tab is active/focused when V launches, behaves ok, but all other open tabs misbehave with the non-changing pointer, & loss of image D&D ability.Next step is to build yet another clean Profile, but this time reuse NONE of my current files except for Bookmarks & Notes [both these are non-negotiable; all else can be sacrificed & later manually recreated, with inconvenience, but obviously i refuse to throw away all my historic bookmarks & notes]. Oh, also, i will still reuse my exportable data for my Extensions Note Board, uBlock Origin, Stylus, & Vanilla Cookies.
22:15: Finished! My detailed notes written contemporaneously...
-
Before closing current misbehaving V-SS i exported these Extensions' data to Dolphin, then Imported them to Stable: Note Board, Session Buddy, Stylus, uBlock Origin, Vanilla Cookies.
-
Before closing current misbehaving V-SS i saved the current open tabs as a new Session [for later usage in the new clean Profile, instead of therein reusing the current Current Tabs & Current Session files, in case they are corrupt].
-
After closing current misbehaving V-SS i copied its Custom Dictionary.txt, Bookmarks & Notes files, & its Sessions folder, to temp folder.
-
I copied said temp folder's Bookmarks & Notes files, & Sessions folder, into Stable's Default folder, then launched Stable so as to have an up to date live visual guide to compare against my pending clean V-SS [didn't bother with Custom Dictionary given Stable is not my primary browser & this data is optional].
-
I copied said temp folder's Bookmarks & Notes files, & Sessions folder, into a new virginal V-SS Default folder, then launched it.
-
Visually confirmed that my reused Bookmarks & Notes data looks "right" in new V-SS. Opened my recently saved Session in new window, closed the initial null window.
-
Extensively tested all tabs in this "new-recycled" Session to ensure that pointer-arrow consistently changes to pointer-hand on each link, then changes back again once away from link. ---> indeed this happened, implying that so far my new profile remains uncorrupted.
-
Whoa, amazing discovery! Despite beginning this V-SS instance from a virgin profile [meaning it by definition could not know any of my Passwords], to my great surprise each of this recycled Session's tabs which involve having an account & logging into it [eg, Vivaldi & *** fora, but many other tabs besides] either still has me logged in, or otherwise has my UserID & Password fields pre-populated when i go to their login pages. Puzzled, i checked the Passwords section in Vivaldi's Settings UI, within Privacy, & wotdyaknow, there's all my accounts & passwords for the tabs comprising the Session. That is, it's NOT ALL my previous passwords, but it is the passwords for the open tabs in the Session. How cool this is!!!
-
Extensively tested [~90', including #7] tabs with login accounts that support posting text & images [eg, Vivaldi & *** fora] to ensure that image drag-&-drop consistently worked
---> indeed this happened, implying that so far my new profile remains uncorrupted. -
Recreated all my Vivaldi Settings [except this time i gave up on redoing my many custom themes], then relaunched V-SS for Native Window to activate, then reiterated #7 & #9.
-
Sequentially F5'd each Speed Dial page to recreate all their thumbnails lost in the rebuild. During this very protracted process V-SS crashed many many times ... it's an old SS bug still not yet fixed.
-
Recreated all my Chromium Settings, not only but especially:
a. Privacy and security
b. Passwords and forms
c. Languages
d. System -
Recreated all my Web Panels, then reiterated #7 & #9.
-
Redo Experiments [trivial, but still needs doing].
-
Redo Flags --> Haha, same as #8, all my desired Flags are already set; apparently also from the Session i recycled. Given i have been constantly reiterating #7 & #9 at each step to here, this Flags discovery confirms that none of my custom Flags were a factor in the old Profiles' bugs.
-
Reinstall all my Extensions, then reconfigure them [including importing the backup files where available].
-
Iterated #7 & #9 for final time, thus reconfirming that STILL my new profile remains uncorrupted. Thus, this multi-MULTI-hour mega-tedious procedure, with apparent eventual success, implies that one/some of my 7/4/18 rebuild's legacy files [Cookies, Current Session, Current Tabs, Favicons, History, Last Session, Last Tabs, &/or Top Sites] that i jettisoned for today's major rebuild, was the corruption source. My hunch [based on this morning's observation that whichever tab was active/focused when V launched was the only one that worked properly re pointer & D&D], is that it might have been the 7/4/18 "Current Tabs" file that was damaged.

10/4/18: 15:30: Oh expletive expletive expletive, expletive expletive expletive, expletive expletive expletive ... the symptoms have returned. After yesterday's looooong slog, V-SS behaved nicely all night, & all today til an hour ago. Suddenly, closing a specific tab via Mouse Gesture [sigh, yes this bug again] crashed V & closed all its processes [once again]. Immediately from my relaunch, & another relaunch after that, the bad recent symptoms are back [the pointer & D&D malfunctions]. It's like the MG crash has damaged one of my pristine V files, & so now V chronically misbehaves all over again, totally nullifying all my work yesterday.Given that yesterday's tedious exhaustive profile rebuild with pain-staking incremental testing throughout is the most, the best, i can do, now i must sadly acknowledge that whatever is wrong with V-SS 1.15.x is unambiguously not my profile, it must be the code itself, & thus it's beyond my ability to cure, Regrettably i shall return "permanently" to Stable now for the remaining duration of the 1.15 SS series. If this failure mode then later propagates into the forthcoming 1.15 Stable, i'll be in real trouble.
Bummer.

Not much to say, except express sympathies.
However, this did jump out at me:Suddenly, closing a specific tab via Mouse Gesture [sigh, yes this bug again] crashed V & closed all its processes [once again].
Could it be that you encounter this (or other crashes) often? I would expect crashes to corrupt almost anything, maybe this crash (and/or others you suffer) is the cause of your problems?
I use gestures for opening tabs (but not for closing) and have not had crashes on Stable or Snapshot - touches wood.

@tbgbe said in Snapshot 1.15.1146.5 ... Rebuilt my Profile again, & again, & AGAIN !:
Could it be that you encounter this (or other crashes) often?
My documentation at the end was insufficiently explanatory, but you were discerning enough to correctly intuit what i was trying to imply. My SS's have crashed a lot throughout the 1.15 series, & a really large proportion of them [maybe even all of them, but my memory is poor] were caused by my tab-close gesture [to which i have unfortunately become really addicted]. After the tedium & mega-duration of last night's rebuild, my born-again SS behaved impeccably for the rest of the night til bedtime, then equally nicely today for many hours [& typical of my standard browsing, this involved tonnes of MGs including hundreds of kg [snicker] of Close Tab gestures... all through which over those hours SS was excellent. I really thought that my big rebuild had finally solved the problem, ie, i had persuaded myself that my vintage profile extant at the time of the initial [or otherwise soon after] 1.15 SS must have become corrupted, hence each subsequent 1.15.x continued to be crashy for me [not me alone; i recall other people posting about crashes with MGs]. That's why i was so shocked this afternoon when, caused by just doing one more simple TC MG, SS crashed after so many good hours post-rebuild. I "felt in my bones" as it crashed, & afterwards, that it was probably going to be buggered again when i relaunched it, & sadly that's exactly what i found. I'm really well aware that correlation ain't causation, but the correlation of crashes with TC MG is high [albeit the reverse is NOT true], & the dodgy mouse pointer + non-D&D function bug only seems to manifest when those crashes had been occurring.
I'm posting this now using Stable [to which i switched since my last post], & i note that my Stable is rock solid... but as i mentioned before, it will be rather unpleasant if this problem migrates into 1.15 Stable too. Ie, i really need it to be fixed in 1,15 SS, otherwise i fear that the next Stable will be similarly infected.
-
@steffie Just something that crossed my mind. I don't know if you already tried this but instead of rebuilding vivaldi again and again - does it maybe break the series of crashes by deleting the close mouse gesture and reassign it? This is of course still no fix but if this'll work it makes it a lot less annoying.
-
@zaibon Hi & vielen dank @zaibon ... pls excuse me if i am misunderstanding your suggestion. Do you mean for me to try, in my already-broken-again [since 10/4, per post] V-SS, to simply delete then recreate my CT MG in hope that it [temporarily?] fixes ALL the breakage-symptoms, or literally only the CT MG-induced crashes?
Here's what i have done this morning after reading your post.
- Launched V-SS [it's been closed since yesterday when i reverted to Stable].
- Opened Settings & deleted the CT MG. Closed Settings.
- Closed V-SS, then relaunched it.
- Tested multiple tabs [i always use Startup with Last Session, & can't/won't stop this method] for presence of two of the symptoms, broken mouse-pointer, & failure to D&D.
- Confirmed both symptoms remain active, ie, my V-SS is still broken.
- Did not bother recreating the CT MG, nor doing any further tests, as i can't/don't want to continue using a broken browser. Note: these two symptoms are IMO highly esoteric, & one might argue that they do not of themselves prevent me continuing to use my V-SS. However my logic suggests that such subtle esoteric symptoms are unlikely to be the only consequence of the implied internal damage that occurred, such that continued browsing might later expose more serious manifestations that could explicitly harm me, eg, during an online banking or shopping session.
FYI, here's three pics. First shows Stable with proper mouse-pointer function whilst hovering over link [& of course, SS also used to do this for several hours after my profile rebuild, until that damn crash [yesterday] broke it again on 10/4]:
2nd shows the failed pointer at link, in broken SS:
3rd shows what Stable still does, & SS used to do but now does not, when dragging an image from another pgm & dropping it into a V text-input field [can't really also show a pic for SS now, coz given nothing at all occurs during the D&D, there's nothing to see]:
-
Posting this from the brand new SS 1.15.1147.19 update. Unfortunately, unpleasantly, disappointingly, despite the claim that serious bugs were fixed including
[Regression] Mouse gestures not reliable VB-38919
[Regression] No hand mouse pointer over links VB-38823... my recently rebuilt, briefly good, subsequently re-broken SS continues to NOT change pointer arrow to hand over links, nor to D&D images &/or text into active text-input fields. Bwaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.
What should i do? -- give up on SS's [noooooooooooooooooooo], assume that the Devs still need to fix these regressions & just wait it out in the meantime, or rebuild my profile from scratch yet again [ie, burn up another several hours with still no guarantee that it won't transpire to be just another big waste of time & effort]?
-
@steffie Chromium 65 generated some staggering problems for the devs. That said, I have confidence in them, and their ability to right the ship.
-
@ayespy said in Snapshot 1.15.1146.5 ... Rebuilt my Profile again, & again, & AGAIN !:
confidence in them, and their ability
Oh me too [sans hashtag]; didn't mean to imply otherwise. All i sought was for guidance as to least-worst action i should take now. My intuition is that i should take the multi-hour pain & do yet another full rebuild, given effectively my [was new & good, then was re-broken] current profile dates from the SS version prior to the current SS version that claims to have this fault fixed. IF i could see the future & know that my putative rebuild definitely made my SS reliable again then i'd not hesitate... but of course i can't foresee, don't know, & am wary therefore of another massive time waste. On the other hand, i'm a retiree, so do have the time.
-
@steffie I suppose I could boot to Mint 18 and see if the current builds present any problems for my flavor of Linux, keeping in mind that I make no modifications and use no extensions.
-
@ayespy Yeah nah ta anyway.
- You're more than busy enough already
- A brief test by you would be inconclusive; with my latest rebuild a few days ago i then experienced many hours [albeit <24] of "perfect" behaviour, before it exploded again.
- There are so many differences between your profile & mine that even if #1 & #2 were negated, & you tested your Linux profile continuously for weeks, it still would not prove that mine will work.
Ie, thanks muchly, but i see this is down to me... i pretty much just have to take the leap of faith... & my earlier post probably was more just a primal scream.
-
[Apparently] happy news. A couple of hours ago i read a post [that currently i can't find again now; still looking for it to paste a link here] wherein the poster mentioned that they had to actually delete their existing tabs then recreate them, before their new SS 1.15.1147.19 would correctly change its pointer from arrow to hand at links. So i thought that was an interesting idea, which i modified by simply creating a new saved session in my Stable [which i have been using today instead of the broken SS], copied that session-file into the Sessions folder of my SS's Default, launched SS [confirmed that all its tabs were still bad wrt pointer & D&D], opened that newly-saved Session, closed the original SS window, tested every tab in the remaining new SS window, & confirmed that all tabs are now good again wrt pointer & D&D... & mouse gestures [good operation, no crashes].
A few days will need to elapse before i shall feel convinced that 1.15.1147.19 truly has solved the problem, but the signs are positive so far... & i did not need to incur the inconvenience of creating yet another clean profile.
.
.
EDIT: Oh my &*%#@! Less than 15' after i made this original post, V-SS has broken once again. Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. -
@steffie My point was just that this option was so plain stupid that it might even could have worked out - to be honest I didn't really expected this to work nor was my intention to vilify your efforts to get this working again. But I liked the idea that with a minor minor chance everybody making a facepalm just out of relief that this is solved.
; )Oh and sorry for the late reply - my boss somehow managed to keep me busy (took him close to 2 years to figure out this one^^). I really hope he did this by accident
EDIT: Oh and I keep my fingers crossed that you'll crush this bug eventually
-
Have you had any "new" crashes with the Snapshot?
Remember
I would expect crashes to corrupt almost anything, maybe this crash (and/or others you suffer) is the cause of your problems?
It may be that you need to check the new snapshot (or wait for stable and check that) with a clean profile before the problem will be eliminated. Once the problem has occurred, an upgrade may not be able to recover using the corrupted profile.
-
@tbgbe said in Snapshot 1.15.1146.5 ... Rebuilt my Profile again, & again, & AGAIN !:
Have you had any "new" crashes with the Snapshot?
No crashes at all with 1.15.1147.19 [but then again, i have not been using it all that long, given its "newness"]. The last crash happened in the previous SS, the day after the night before when i'd finished the many-hours profile rebuild. From my notes above [but with my bolding now of a section that speaks directly to your idea]:
10/4/18: 15:30: Oh expletive expletive expletive, expletive expletive expletive, expletive expletive expletive ... the symptoms have returned. As per my primally screamie exchange with Ayespy:
My intuition is that i should take the multi-hour pain & do yet another full rebuild, given effectively my [was new & good, then was re-broken] current profile dates from the SS version prior to the current SS version that claims to have this fault fixed. IF i could see the future & know that my putative rebuild definitely made my SS reliable again then i'd not hesitate... but of course i can't foresee, don't know, & am wary therefore of another massive time waste.
Yep i can read the tea-leaves & coffee-grounds, to recognise that as long as i continue with a profile that has incurred one crash [albeit not in this SS] it is logically impossible to attribute the now-ongoing malfunctions definitively to profile-corruption, OR otherwise to ongoing bugs in 1.15.1147.19. The only logical way to separate the variables is by elimination, ergo i need to build yet another new profile.
I know this, i do, i really do. It's just that... how many profile rebuilds can a girl endure in one lifetime before being overwhelmed with excess endorphins from the unadulterated delights of building profile after profile after profile...? Maybe such sustained pleasure is bad for one's health?
-
I'm pretty sure that i have now proven that 1.15.1147.19 remains defective [in the context of this thread].
[A] Today's first rebuild: Repeated #1 - #10 of https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/204786 9/4/18 15:00 above [which of course back then was in SS v1.15.1146.5], but noted these exceptions today:
(a) #8 did NOT work ... this time NONE of my recycled Session's Tabs had any Passwords
(b) #10: Unlike above, this time, at this point, after finishing manually recreating all MY Vivaldi Settings, the pointer was once again broken !!!!!!!!!!!!!
[B] Today's second rebuild: This time i decided to NOT immediately recycle my Sessions, Bookmarks & Notes, so as to positively confirm that they're not [or otherwise are] the source of the bug.
-
Initiated new virginal V-SS Default folder
-
Manually recreated all MY Vivaldi Settings [pointer still good at https://vivaldi.net/ & https://forum.vivaldi.net/ (not yet logged in)]
-
Manually recreated all MY Chromium Settings [pointer still good at https://vivaldi.net/ & https://forum.vivaldi.net/ (not yet logged in)]
-
Reset all Flags back to default values & relaunched
-
Pointer is now BROKEN at https://vivaldi.net/ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Closed V-SS, deleted its Cache from /tmp , relaunched V-SS
-
Now pointer once more good at https://vivaldi.net/ & https://forum.vivaldi.net/ (not yet logged in) ... was Cache the problem [pc Uptime = 5d 19h, ie, that's last time /tmp was cleared]?
-
Logged into https://vivaldi.net/ & https://forum.vivaldi.net/ [pointer still good]
-
Logged into https://forum.manjaro.org/latest
-
Confirmed https://forum.manjaro.org/latest & https://forum.vivaldi.net/ are still good wrt D&D + pointers.
-
Closed & relaunched V-SS; oh GROAN:
a. still all good for https://forum.manjaro.org/latest & https://forum.vivaldi.net/ wrt D&D + pointers... BUT...
b. pointers BROKEN again at https://vivaldi.net/ -
I am not going to proceed [coz in all prior troubleshooting during this fight over the past several days once the pointer [& D&D] fails initially at one tab, over time more & more tabs also fail].
This latest test IMO proves unambiguously that 1.15.1147.19 remains defective, & none of my prior Profile is the cause of it. Of course the obvious begged question is... if 1.15.1147.19 really is still broken, why are so many other users in the forum not experiencing this same issue? I cannot reconcile the apparent contradiction, but neither can i see how my work today could lead to an alternative conclusion.
Retreating back to Stable, once again.

-
14/4/18: Yay, now am using Snapshot as default browser again. Following on from yesterday's latest update, to 1.15.1147.21, today i rebuilt my Profile again, & i repeated the iterative testing at each step. After necessarily more hours of work i made an important discovery... the root cause of the problem is "Vanilla Cookie Manager". Consistently with this extension enabled [then relaunch V-SS], the pointer would break, whereas each time i again disabled it & relaunched, the pointer behaves correctly. VCM continues to work fine in Stable 1.14.1077.60 [Chromium/64], but it seems that this old extension [last updated July 4, 2014] has finally become incompatible once Chromium advanced to 65, ie, Snapshot 1.15.x.
Having made this discovery in my new profile, it occurred to me that maybe my older profile might actually come good again if i simply also disabled VCM in it & relaunched. YES... it now works! Thus i have now left it Disabled, & if no update arrives soonish, i will uninstall it. In the meantime though, woohoo, Snapshot is good again [pointers + image D&D]. Yay.
This logically implies that the 1.15.1147.21 code must have been improved wrt this bug, coz my previous testing for 1.15.1147.19 demonstrated the bug was present even without any extensions installed. It also strongly implies, though now i cannot prove it, that potentially none of my spate of recent profile rebuilds was in fact necessary...
-
@gwen-dragon Done.
Issue Collector created VB-39466:
Summary:
Broken mouse pointer & drag&drop function in 1.15.x Snapshots; apparent relationship with "Vanilla Cookie Manager" extension.
Key: VB-39466
Project: Vivaldi BrowserBroken mouse pointer & drag&drop function in 1.15.x Snapshots; apparent relationship with "Vanilla Cookie Manager" extension.
Steps to reproduce:
Reproducibility has been extremely difficult, but i refer you to my forum topic in which i have documented my detailed testing, https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/26582/snapshot-1-15-1146-5-rebuilt-my-profile-again-again-again/. My most recent post there notes an apparent causal relationship with "Vanilla Cookie Manager" extension; https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/205608 However, at least one other Snapshot user writes they do not use this extension yet still experience the fault; https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/205625.Address (URL) of faulty page:
RandomExpected behaviour:
Pointer arrow should always visibly change to hand when hovering a link. Dragging an image from external graphics program [eg, Shutter] & dropping into a compatible page's active text-input field [eg, Vivaldi forum] should result in the image being copied & appearing in the field.Actual behaviour:
In current Stable 1.14.1077.60 & pre-1.15 Snapshots, the expected behaviour reliably occurred. In 1.15 Snapshots both functions have frequently broken. The latest Snapshot 1.15.1147.21 made a big improvement though... in this version my tests found that the proper behaviour seems reliable but only if i disable one of my extensions, "Vanilla Cookie Manager". Previous recent Snapshots still randomly malfunctioned even in clean Profiles with no extensions.Vivaldi version:
1.96.1147.21 ... 1.15.1147.21Operating System:
Linux x86.64 ... Linux Manjaro KDE x64 Plasma 5.12.4. -
Sigh. Déjà vu.
My SS 1.15.1147.21 continues to be mostly good wrt these symptoms, but despite my recent useful discovery that disabling VCM definitely helps a lot, clearly there is still some underlying problem in V's code. Over the past 24 hrs'ish, most tabs have remained perfect, but randomly, for no discernible reason, individual tabs break, & in these tabs the pointer reverts to being a permanent arrow, & the D&D function is lost... yet other tabs remain fine. I really hope the Devs can conquer the bug [definitely not a feature].
