Vimeo video does not play
-
For some reason I can't play vimeo videos, yet youtube works fine. Is there a setting I need to change?

Hello,
If you're a Windows user, you need to install Pepper Flash plugin from Adobe site : http://labsdownload.adobe.com/pub/labs/flashruntimes/flashplayer/flashplayer16_install_win_ppapi.exe
Youtube probably serve video as Webm/HTML natively compatible without plugin.

I'm on elementaryOS (Ubuntu) and have flash installed. Vimeo works brilliantly in chromium, btw.

Never tested on Linux.
Try to install pepperflashplugin-nonfree package and see/compare vivaldi:plugins in Vivaldi with chrome://plugins in Chromium -
No joy
It keeps telling me I have to install flash, even though I already have it installed. No worries though, I can live without it.
Thank you for your help. -
i was under the impression Vimeo uses a HTML5 player? if you look at there front page without logging in it says so

Probably this problem is the same as with Opera: Vimeo detects browser's HTML5 capabilities, queries H.264 video support, for some reason receives "yes" as a response from the browser and sends a video in an unsupported format. The solution - install ffmpeg. But not any ffmpeg. Opera supports ffmpeg-2.4 branch, as for Vivaldi… Well, I created this topic to find out the exact version.

I've just installed vivaldi on my linux and checked vimeo. Played this video:
vimeo.com/30123581
and there was no problems at all. Video started, video and audio played fine, i did nothing to make it work, everything just started to work out of the box.Lubuntu 14.04 amd64.

I can play the video from @spectatorx
But I cannot play this video from Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/210735970Or this embedded: https://misterhorse.tv/store/products/shape-elements-pack/3260
Wth? OK... Fixed by changing "Display list 2D Canvas" to disabled in vivaldi://flags
