Regularly crashes, no warning, no error.

As a matter of perspective, I think it's important to remember that Vivaldi was rock-solid until a couple of months ago. This never happened with my old ATI card, it never happened with the new nvidia card for the first six months I had it installed. The nvidia drivers have been out since July (384.94) so I do not suspect them.
Or rather, they haven't changed, nothing has, so if they're at fault it was in combination with Vivaldi. Probably.
-
@ayespy I use in private the newest version (I have the problems at home) and at work i didn't update because of this issue and it runs stable at work so it has to be the update.
-
@da_quixxta Update to what? Which version do you use?
-
At Work i use 1.13.1008.44 32bit and it works fine.
at home i use 1.14.1077.45 64 bit (i updated on 64 in hope that it would fix the problem because i had the problem on 32 bit to)
To my specs: I7 4790k, 32 GB RAM and a Titan X
-
Well just popping in to say I have experienced the same ever since updating to 1.14.
I mean I understand how pointless and frustrating this is, and how hard for the devs it must be to debug and pinpoint totally random crashes like this. Wasn't even gonna say anything, until I saw this thread.I'm not very concerned, it only happened like 3 or 4 times total for me, not as severe as the OP, and it seems pretty random. Most of the time I was just reading something, hand of controls, not even scrolling or anything, it just closes unexpectedly without warnings. Most frequent site was Inoreader, probably because I spend a lot of time there, it is probably very random because it happened elsewhere.
My specs are Windows 7 64, Core i7 2600k, GTX 580 + GTX 980Ti Latest official 64bit release.
-
Not even 30 min. using my PC at home opened facebook on purpose.
After a restart the same thing happened again. Now it works after 2 crashes.
I know it's a mess to program a Browser but this Bug needs a much faster Hotfix since it makes the Browser unusable.

@da_quixxta said in Regularly crashes, no warning, no error.:
... at home i use 1.14.1077.45 64 bit (i updated on 64 in hope that it would fix the problem because i had the problem on 32 bit to)
...You might want to further update to the latest Stable version: 1.14.1077.50 (Stable channel) (64-bit). It has a couple of added stability fixes in it, plus a yet-again newer chromium engine version. A lot of the Vivaldi 1.14 problems were/are related to the major changes made in the first chromium 64 engine version that was incorporated when 1.14 was released.
-
Same problem here.
Since 1.14,this problem comes out of nowhere.
2-3 times week.My specs
Intel i5-6600 16GB Ram Radeon RX480 -
I updated it now i hope it fixes the problem.
@Gwen-Dragon
Did this already got no response.
-
I have experienced the same ever since updating to 1.14 as well. I only notice the problem in facebook. I have the same exact computer specs I had before, the only thing that changed is I replaced my hard drive with an SSD. The older versions of Vivaldi worked fine. The 1.14 series doesn't. I can be doing something, or doing nothing, and the vivaldi window just closes. No warning, no dead bird.
Dell Studio XPS 7100, AMD Phenom II x6 1035T Processor, Win7Pro x64, 8GB ram, GeForce GT610 video card with updated drivers.
All of this was the same before. The only thing changed is the version of Vivaldi.
-
@ajenn If you're running 1.14.1077.50 Stable and still having the problem, it might be a good idea to file a bug report (https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/25230/how-to-report-a-bug-for-vivaldi) with all the specifics about your system/software, the website(s) where it occurs, and what (if anything) repeatedly leads up to it.
-
Having the same problem, running the latest Snapshot version (1.15.1104.3 64-bit). It seems to happen once or twice a day when I have Facebook open for a while. I don't know for sure if that's the cause, but I suspect it because I usually have a FB tab open even when I'm using others. I have shut off hardware now after reading this thread, hopefully that will put an end to this, as I have an older system (Windows 7 Ultimate, i7 860, ATI Radeon HD 4850 (with latest drivers, albeit from 2013... :p). Extensions are minimal, but for me essential to use Vivaldi in a way that suits me:
-
**I meant to say "shut off hardware acceleration..." :-p
Also, as soon as I hit the submit button, Vivaldi closed again...good thing I can restore my open tabs immediately! Would love to see an edit feature added here, so typos/mistakes like the one above can be discretely corrected... -
my 2c...I have snapshot on 3 boxes and have no issues with crashes...vivallah be praised...I started using Avira instead of the other blockers fyi
oh yeah and I dont do no social crp.

This, exactly. This is when it happens most to me too.
But also when I'm typing something. The more I type, the more likely I am to lose it all. Of course.

I have once experienced the sudden crashes but in the latest version it was really a great improvement. I'm using windows 7 ultimate.
Thanks!

Hi, I am also experiencing these crashes, same as described in the previous posts. Vivaldi simply disappears, no notification or error or anything. Before the crash, there's a steady increase in memory usage, up to something like 12 gigabytes (normally 4-5 gigabytes are being used). CPU usage also seems to rise a lot (but not to anywhere near 100%) before crashing.
Here's some of my system specs:
AMD FX-4300 quad core processor
16,0 GB DDR3 RAM
Asus M5A 78L-M motherboard
NVidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti display adapter with 2 displays connected (driver version 23.21.13.8813)
Running Windows 7 64-bitIt's worth noting that I have had very similar problems with Linux, the only difference being that crashing Vivaldi takes the whole system down with it, to a total freeze (except for mouse pointer which can still be moved). Only power button resolves the situation there. I've had it happen to two different computers (one being the same as my Windows computer and the other Acer Aspire 7750 laptop). I've tried three different Linux distributions: Ubuntu Mate, where it crashes maybe once a day; Linux Mint, where it's completely unusable (crashes within minutes of starting) and Xubuntu, where it's almost usable (crashes every few days). For Linux this problem has existed at least from December 2017 and for Windows no earlier than that.
It might have something to do with Flash and Chromium base, because I experienced similar crashes with Chrome on Xubuntu when streaming Flash video.

when I went into the pc this morning vivaldi had suffered a total crash, refused to open. Had to do a reboot, and then it worked again. This has never happened before with any browser.
