how to access speed dial ?
-
hello, im new to vivaldi.
when i start vivaldi the page shows me speed dial.
but if i close it, how to do to open it again? there is no button for it.
thx -
Welcome to the community @tteesstt. I hope you enjoy or will enjoy using Vivaldi as much as the rest of us.
Add the + button on the tab bar to open a new empty tab (which will show the speed dial).

@tteesstt
Hello, you can set the Home button to startpage to get speed dial if you don´t need a new tab (Startpage setting).Cheers, mib
-
You can also access the speed dials through the folders that appear in the bookmarks bar
-
You can also use a keyboard shortcut to open a new tab. Ctrl+T is the default.
-
In Settings / Startup you can set your home page to the start page
In Settings / Tabs you can set the new tab page to the start pageUse whichever has your preference. I think that by default a new tab goes to the start page.
-
thanks to all. the settings/ startup and /tabs helped me a lot
just one more question.
why when i clic on the tools menu (the one we find on the top of vivaldi not at the left side) it displays "speed dial + bookmars history". when i choose "speed dial" it loads google and not speed dial?(@Caine : are you the same caine as in the pandora/pyra community^^ ?)
-
@tteesstt That does not sound like a normal Vivaldi menu. Do you use a Speed Dial extension?
-
@tteesstt Not sure which menu entry that is.
And yes, I am the same.
-
@tteesstt Do you mean the links across the top of the Speed Dial (Startpage) page when you are looking at Speed Dial?
-
i mean the "tools" menu you can see on this picture
http://www.extremetech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Screen-Shot-2015-01-27-at-4.04.48-PM.pngat the top there is several choices, "tools" is one of them.
-
@tteesstt There is no choice for Speed Dial in the tools menu. Only for Quick Commands.
-
@tteesstt BTW you post in the Windows forum, but your picture clearly shows a Mac screen (and an old version of Vivaldi).
-
@tteesstt said in how to access speed dial ?:
why when i clic on the tools menu (the one we find on the top of vivaldi not at the left side) it displays "speed dial + bookmars history". when i choose "speed dial" it loads google and not speed dial?
yes i have windows, but its the screenshot of mac, i found it more easily than with windows.
btw excuse me, when i said
why when i clic on the tools menu (the one we find on the top of vivaldi not at the left side) it displays "speed dial + bookmars history". when i choose "speed dial" it loads google and not speed dial?
i should say "why when i clic on the tools menu (the one we find on the top of vivaldi not at the left side) and on the bookmarks choice, it displays "speed dial + bookmars history". when i choose "speed dial" it loads google and not speed dial?
-
Ah, the speed dial button on the history page. That one works properly for me.
-
ok i've found the reason.
it is because i set the new tab page to the google adress^^ -
Sounds like a bug to me that a "speed dial" button just opens a new tab. Either the button should be renamed or the behaviour should be altered.
<edit>
Setting new tab behaviour to start page or home page behaves as expected (i.e. just opens the specific speed dial), but a specific page or empty page causes all speed dials to open that page instead.
</edit> -
yep exactly^^
-
I already know about setting up Speed Dial and New Tabs, and I DO NOT WANT TO OPEN the Bookmark bar, etc. I want to know how to navigate to the Speed Dial from the Tab I am in? Is there no way to enter ":speed" or something to jump to speed dial from the tab I am in?
Thanks,
-Damon

@artpoetryfiction The Rewind button will take you back to the Start Page in the current tab. It make take more than one click, or Click and Drag down to see the entire tab history.
