Geolocation
-
I have tried using search for this and I have come away more confused than when I started.
On my laptop, Vivaldi or websites seem to have my geolocation as far apart as Edinburgh and London... I am actually in Hereford. I am guessing it gets this information from my ISP info, a node somewhere, perhaps.
Anyhow, it is useless for me. How can I set my geolocation in Vivaldi? I have tried going to vivaldi://settings and searching for Location. I have tried going to chrome://settings (which corrects itself to vivaldi, but nevertheless shows a different settings page). Neither appear to have scope to let me tell Vivaldi where I am.
Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

What about them?
They can be toggled by clicking the badge in the left of the address bar.

Thanks for the response.
"Global: chrome://settings/content/location" - I have three options. I can "Ask before accessing", block or allow. There is not an option to set my location to Hereford. "Ask before accessing" still only provides the block/allow options, but not to provide my physical location.
Ditto for a special website, same three options, but no way to set my location to Hereford.

As far as I know there is no way to spoof your location from the main browser settings. You can do it from within the inspector though. If you press F12, and open the "sensors" tab you can change a location in there.

"Your current location can be detected automatically with IP and Wifi by geolocation services."
Perhaps it works for others, but it manifestly does not work for me. At 350 miles distant, Edinburgh is not "near me" in any sense that is helpful.
How does this Sensor tab work then? It looks way above my pay grade. I tried a preset, but I couldn't find anything resembling "Save", so if I closed and reopened the inspection window, I see that it has reverted to "No override".
So how do I save my location?
And...is it a global setting for the browser, which would make it useful? Or is it something that needs to be set for each website, which would be as useful as a chocolate teapot.
This wasn't something that used to matter to me, but with increasing use of mobile devices, I am finding more sites that seem to need, or at least demand, my location without offering to let me give it manually.

@gwen-dragon Thanks for the info, from which I can see that the inspection panel is not really of much help to my problem. Well, no help at all, really.
Interestingly, I have just tried this on three other browswers (Edge, Firefox and Chrome) and at least got consistent results, with Vivaldi being the outlier.
So, I assume this may get addressed in the future...they can't address everything first
