@gwen-dragon thank you for support. Anyway, I try right now but no luck. Even loggin off, e come back... don't works
That's weird that file... it start with: {"protection":{"super_mac"..... .... ....
It's ok, or is the Agent Switcher addon? Maybe it's that kind of addons that crash Vivaldi... ? -
@gwen-dragon I try right now, but I must switch to SU to make that command works. Btw, after few raws of error and warning message, Vivaldi starts as well.

Strange, on my Mint x64 18.2 Cinnamon Vivaldi 1.12 and 1.13 starts fine.
Do you use extensions?Yep, I think about ten addons...
-
here I am, I was at dinner. Well, I use: HTTPS everywhere, Imagus, ImTranslator, IP Flag, Link Grabber, Simple Speed Dial, uBlock Origin, Video Downloader GetThemAll, Viewhance, ViolentMonkey (which I use for Google Hit Hider By Domain), WoT.
Well, for today I'm done , very tired. I guess I'll take a deep inspect tomorrow, both in Windows and Mint. I'll try to reproduce the crash by subtracting one addons at time, starting from the Agent Switcher one. If also with this steps don't resolve, then I'll go with a fresh-new install, but I can keep some files, if needed to investigate. -
@marko-indaco Hi Marko.
HTTPS everywhere, ..., uBlock Origin
When you do your tests, i suspect / suggest that you can probably still keep those two ok... i do not use any of your other extensions, but i do use both of those... & my SS & Stable do not crash.
-
@steffie The most broadly shared extension between crash-sufferers, oddly, is uBlock Origin.
-
@ayespy Amazing! Well then i suppose the only remaining explanation for my singular lack of crashes "must" be that i'm simply one lucky lady. Hmmm, i shall try to ignore my otherwise whole life experience that completely debunks that particular hypothesis...
-
@steffie That doesn't mean there is not some other determining factor. It only means it is the most COMMON factor at the moment.
-
@steffie There was a common "scientific" opinion in the very early days of the the Enlightenment, that putrefaction of food actually generated flies. They were literally born from the corruption of organic matter. It only stood to reason - what was the greatest common denominator where flies were found? Decay of organic matter.
Someone had the brilliant idea of putting out fresh food and covering it with cheesecloth to see what happened. No flies inside the cheesecloth after days or weeks of putrefaction.
We have not yet applied the cheesecloth.
-
@ayespy Indeed. It did occur to me earlier to possibly retort to you that "correlation is not causation", but i feared it might be misconstrued as me being snide. It is true, however, of course.

guys, thank you all for support, but as already said, I think this is not an extentions problem. I try this morning a fresh install on Mint. The Default folder was new, and indeed Vivaldi works. Well, I replace all the previous folders that I got in Default one (except for the extentions one). This cause the crash... it's something inside the Default folder, that probably change with the latest release.
I have to try on Windows, subtracting folders one-by-one... I need only a bit time to spend on it cause I'm quite busy right now...

Why? After ignoring extensions; surely all you would need to copy would be bookmarks and passwords?

I really don't know... after the last update it crash both Win 7 and Mint 18.2.
I finish right now (in Windows) to replace one-by-one the corrupted folders (and files inside) stored in /AppData/Vivaldi/Default but the problem seems not there...
Before make this I also add every extention, one-at-a-time but with no luck, except for GetThemAll VideoDownloader that I found it's no more available on the Chrome Store... -
@marko-indaco I see that you "know" there is a problem with (some) extensions
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/21789/vivaldi-1-12-955-42-won-t-open-try-1-12-955-48-linked-belowDoes that mean the problem in this thread is now solved for you?

Yes @TbGbe , thank you for support, as I reported here I solve the problem by deleting the problematic extention. Anyway I install the 1.12.955.48 version as @ruario suggest me, and I can confirm that, Installing that release, solve the problem even if the broken extention is already installed. They "patch" Vivaldi in a way that disable that extention

In your Mint install, try starting vivaldi with a fresh profile.
vivaldi --user-data-dir=/tmp/vivaldi-test-profile
